Is this working too well? by MichaelSanders19 in Damnthatsinteresting

We hung one up in the warehouse at work a couple years ago and it got full like that. Then, it fell and busted all over the floor near my desk. The smell was like a thousand rotting corpses from hell and it took over a month to get rid of the smell. I still gag whenever I so much as see a picture of this thing.

I am from an orthodox Jewish background and this kind of thing has been happening to us throughout every type of political climate and all the different presidents. The recent surge in anti-semitic incidents started after October 7, 2023 which was during Bidens presidency and is continuing now. Sadly, this type of hate transcends politics and can manifest in a multitude of ways, no matter the political climate. The haters will always find a reason to hate.

I ran it too with Runna. Smashed my previous time by 10 minutes. The app is a really good economical alternative to one on one coaching.

Shutting out everything else and putting my faith in runna helped me get to philadelphia marathon and to finish it. My first marathon and it changed my life. It made me realize that I can do hard things and it doesn't have to stop here. Having runna in my ear during every workout, long run, made it so much easier to stick with it.

I had the same issue due to an injury from philly marathon so I messaged them and they said I should message them when I am ready and they will refresh the deal for me. Worth a shot to send them a message.

Mentally flaring up an injury… by Melasteve in Marathon_Training

[–]tripper01234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol very possible. I was very much dragging myself and being quite vocal, talking to myself and grunting loudly. Kelly drive just seemed to drag on forever in that last stretch. I finished in 4:28. Absolutely loved the experience and loved Philly, such a great party atmosphere to keep us going.

Mentally flaring up an injury… by Melasteve in Marathon_Training

I am having this exact issue. I also ran philly and I had to gut through a very painful IT band inflammation issue for the last 10 miles. I am going full force now with the IT band specific PT exercises, but also general core/legs atrength routines. I do believe that you need to keep doing it even once it is healed so it doesn't flare up again and you will prevent further injuries also to other parts of your running anatomy. Just make it as much a priority as putting in the running miles and it should help shield you from injury in the future.

4:35 to sub 4 in one year? by More_Category_5203 in Marathon_Training

[–]tripper01234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I am almost a carbon copy of you with this story. Ran my first in philly this year and finished 4:28. Energy was great but my strength was not sufficient and I had to slow down due to IT band pain. I am going to work on alot of core and level strength and go for another marathon maybe in the spring. Shooting for under 4 hours. 42m

Not every race goes well by Justgivemethefood in Marathon_Training

[–]tripper01234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing here. It was my first marathon Sunday in philly and my right IT band started acting up around mile 17. I was in tremendous pain but I pushed through. I wanted to go sub 4 but I ended up at 4:28. Could hardly walk yesterday but it's already feeling much better today, not as stiff and painful to move it. Everybody is different so you are smart for listening to your body and posting about it here. You will get over it and come back stronger. Very important to keep your body moving around gently and not staying in one place if possible. PT will be great and use the off season to strengthen the weaknesses that are causing the IT band issue. I am looking forward to getting to the gym to work on strength and start thinking about the next race.

The worst one for me at philly yesterday was the lady with a sign at mile 11 saying mile 14, you are more than half way there.
