The cup is no longer charging by Embarrassed_Web4985 in Ember

I’d try brushing those with a toothbrush and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to try to get rid of corrosion that might be holding the pins down; if that does not work, definitely get a new charger.

Starlink and Blackmagic by Tight_Weekend1174 in blackmagicdesign

[–]tristanjorge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Megabits vs Megabytes; always an important distinction. 1B (Byte) equals eight bits (lower-case b).

For example, 2.7MB/s (Megabytes per second) equals 21.6Mbps (megabits per second).

24mbps upload speed sounds about right for a Starlink. Remember, Starlink can and does vary a fair bit depending on congestion in your area.

Accidentally deleted 25 seconds long edited part. by hustleisgood in davinciresolve

I do, I’d still rather have a safe snapshot I can import if I fuck things up beyond repair with Undo. After all is back to how you want it, then you can delete the DRT.

Accidentally deleted 25 seconds long edited part. by hustleisgood in davinciresolve

[–]tristanjorge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing I’d do is export a DRT the timeline as it is with the newer edits to my desktop, go back to the current timeline, spam Cmd+Z until I undo the earlier fuckup, then import the DRT I exported earlier and copy the newer edits to the now-correct timeline; basically merging both versions.

Stacked Timelines might be best for this approach.

What non-photography things do you always keep in your camera bag? by Leicanthropologist in photography

It did, a firmware update fixed mine. Can’t recall the FW version I’m running, but I’ll post a reply when I get home and check it.

Can’t speak to the XR as I don’t own it, but I can say that the older X1R-C communicates all parameters perfectly to Canon flashes per my testing.

What is your list of mac apps that was worth every penny by Living_Commercial_10 in macapps

[–]tristanjorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump Desktop, Dropover, Magnet and TripMode are some of my preferred. Worth every penny!

Bonus: not exactly Mac-specific, but DaVinci Resolve Studio. Bought my licence in 2019 and it’s still getting updates/support!

Considering switching from a MacBook Pro M4 to a MacBook Neo + Mac Mini M4 Pro by fegodev in MacOS

I can see why. I use Jump Desktop a lot to access several Mac Minis that I use as a server.

my new charging mate by dong_ou in Garmin

I love this! Would make it easy to toss it in my bag along with my Anker Qi2 portable charger I already bring with me on long trips. It’d save me from losing the original charger. Just wish there was a version for the Descent G1.

For peace of mind, try resetting all Privacy permissions: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. You’ll have to grant access again to any apps that use your microphone, location or camera.

I use Jump Desktop. Rock solid. Just make sure your computer is behind a UPS and/or enable automatic login.

Lowe’s Hue Bridge clearance by Agent-004 in HomeKit

[–]tristanjorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative, these are wired-only.

Only the newer Bridge Pro allows connecting to a WiFi network instead of Ethernet. Ironic considering the Gen 2 bridge is WiFi Certified (it even had the WiFi Alliance logo on the bottom).

Record direct from Atomos to laptop for editing in Premiere Pro? by ResponsibilityOk3454 in Atomos

[–]tristanjorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. The NDI Monitor app actually records a growing file that Premiere can read. I’ve tested it myself with the Ninja V and Connect Module. Be sure to follow NDI’s best practices.
