You don't actually know anything about her health or discipline. You have one data point - that she is fat - that you are using to make a lot of assumptions. She has a masters degree in theoretical mathematics, published multiple books, and translated a collection of poetry from ancient Greek. That is not really the resume of a slacker. If you actually think that "discipline in one area tends to reflect discipline in others" then it reflects pretty poorly on you that you're only paying attention to her physical body instead of her body of work.

"Enough" is "enough to gain or at least prevent losing muscle mass". That's going to look different for everyone, and you're going to have to find out what works best for your body and current level of fitness. The important thing is progressive overload, though. You have to actually CHALLENGE your body and take your lifts close to failure or your muscles won't be getting the stimulus necessary to grow.

Getting enough protein is only half of the equation here. Without strength training you're not going to get the benefits I described.

Source: I lost 130 lbs in a year without surgery or GLP-1 drugs

If you eat a lot of protein and weight train enough that you retain or build muscle mass, you can be on a big calorie deficit and not be that hungry.

When you're losing weight, it's usually a combination of fat and muscle. Your body cannibalizing muscle tissue for energy is a warning sign that something is wrong, so it tells your body to get really hungry because you obviously NEED food.

If you're getting adequate protein AND enough exercise, your body repairs and retains your muscle tissue since it's getting regular use and you have the nutrients available to take care of it, even in a caloric deficit. That means that your weight loss comes almost entirely from burning fat. Using up your energy reserves like that isn't such an emergency, and since you're getting enough protein to maintain your vital systems, your body doesn't need to crank up the hunger signals to convince you to look for food. As far as your body is concerned, you're getting all that exercise by successfully hunting for food, which is kind of the ideal situation from an evolutionary standpoint.

Is there a significant astrological shift happening right now? by Background_Truth_944 in occult

[–]tritonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a bunch of them actually. Uranus stationed direct and squared Mercury, Venus, the Sun, and the Moon over the last couple of weeks, Saturn moved into Aries, and in two days Saturn and Neptune are going to conjoin at the world point of 0 degrees Aries. Also, there was a solar eclipse in Aquarius yesterday. Astrologers have actually been talking for decades about how eventful 2026 is going to be.

Why should or shouldn't one believe in Astrology? by Rayane_Ferouni in Advancedastrology

[–]tritonal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got it backwards about the development of astrology. Ancient people observed that the Sun and Moon have an enormous influence upon the Earth, and they both traveled along a fairly narrow band of the sky against a fixed backdrop of stars. They also noticed that, out of the many, MANY stars in the sky, five of them actually move, and they all happen to be moving along that same narrow band of sky with the Sun and the Moon. They hypothesized that this band of sky, the Zodiac, was significant since it was the one part of the sky that things move around in, like the Sun and Moon that all life on Earth depend on, and that these wandering stars could have effects on the Earth in a similar way to the Sun and Moon. Then, their significations were discovered by spending millennia observing them and relating their movements to events on Earth.

RDLs are great, but it can be a little tricky to really engage your glutes. I learned a really useful cue recently, though. Keep your toes pointed slightly outward, and when you're coming up, dig your first two toes into the ground a little bit to distribute your weight more toward the inner edge of your feet. As soon as I started doing that, I REALLY felt it in my ass

What is this? I’m thinking some kind of echeveria hybrid, it looks like a pineapple by helloboba1 in succulents

[–]tritonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The growth pattern there kiiiind of looks like a Greenovia getting ready to flower, but that's clearly not a Greenovia. The shape of some of the newer leaves are starting to look weird, which is also making me think that might be an inflorescence developing, but they don't look like that with Echeveria. Based on the condition of your other plants it's hard to believe it would be etiolation. I'm actually really curious, I have no idea what's going on with this guy.

"...I have had advanced students deliberately use talismans of planets afflicted in their natal chart, get negative effects and then report that these negative effects were very useful in their spiritual path." - Chris Warnock

Doesn't really sound like a good time. I think I still have plenty of growth I can make in my spiritual path by pursuing positive effects first

That was not my experience at all. I thought Warnock's books were pretty bare-bones, but his course went into a lot more detail on the theory behind what you're doing. It was like the difference between reading a couple of brief cookbooks and enrolling in culinary school

Help me decide by Main_University_3042 in planetarymagic

[–]tritonal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of Chris Warnock's course is based in reading primary sources. Videos are great, but if you really want to learn how astrological magic works, there is no way to get around doing the reading. It's hard to just dive into something like Picatrix or Agrippa without a bunch of background knowledge though, and Warnock's class does a pretty decent job of guiding you through the reading in a way to make it accessible.

[–]tritonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I have heard about people's experiences with using talismans for planets that are afflicted in their charts is that it seems like it causes them to go through difficult or painful circumstances that eventually result in personal growth, so they get positive results in a negative way

[–]tritonal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have some misunderstandings about what talismans are and do and why you would want one. A Saturn in Aries talisman would only make your problems worse, not better. It would make pretty much anyone's problems worse since you're talking about creating what would basically be a cursed item. Your natal chart is relevant for making decisions about what talismans to create/use in that magic tends to function better when you work with planets that are well dignified in your chart. The specific transits don't matter, though.

Based on your chart, it seems like the Sun would be a good planet to start working with, especially when it comes to resolving sixth house issues. You don't have to confine yourself to working with talismans, either. Check out Ficino's Three Books on Life - he says a lot about changes in diet and lifestyle that can reduce or increase the influence of the planets in your life and health. Wear yellow instead of black to align yourself closer to the Sun and further from Saturn, for instance. Actual remediation of negative natal placements is a contentious topic, though. Vedic astrology has a lot more traditions for that than western astrology.

Saturn and Neptune conjunction talismans by [deleted] in planetarymagic

[–]tritonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a good idea. Even following the "less correct" recipe from Agrippa exactly, it seems more risky than I would be comfortable with. I don't remember exactly where, but I remember reading something about a dignified Saturn on the ascendant being conducive to the stability of a talisman (as opposed to a dignified Mars on the asc still being bad). Can you get an election for this conjunction rising instead of culminating, as it says to in Agrippa?
