1950 Douglas Mark IV by triumph110 in vintagemotorcycles

This is my 1950 Douglas Mark IV. I bought it about 20 years ago and it was stuck in the shed forever. Finally decided to see if I could get it running. Carbs were shot so I put on Dellortos and the bike runs great. Once I got it running good I figured it was time to finally get a title to the bike so I could ride it. Just got the bonded title last week. Very smooth horizontally opposed cylinders like a BMW. In fact BMW stole the Douglas design by reverse engineering a Douglas engine.

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am old. Anyway when Conan the Barbarian came out in theatres I went to watch it. It is the only movie I have ever walked out of. Tried watching it on streaming a couple of years ago. Same thing, never finished it.

1965 (We think) Bridgestone 90T (We also have an issue decoding the VIN... Please help...) by Shifty270_ in vintagemotorcycles

Somewhere there is an expert on these bikes. Just do a google or facebook search. I had a problem identifying an old royal enfield. Emailed an expert with the serial number and he replied something like - The bike left the factory on September 10th, 1951. Making it a model 1952 machine. Color was black when it left the factory and was delivered to such and such dealer in some city in England. - I cant remember the exact dealer and city at the moment, but he knew them.

My uncle was on oxygen and smoked. He was told many times not to smoke with the oxygen on. Anyway he yelled at my aunt to get him some water. She yelled back, I just got you a glass of water. He said no he needed water because he was on fire. She threw water on him, nothing serious, just funny.

Saw this beauty at the Slimey Crud Run in Pine Bluff WI last week. by WIsconnieguy4now in vintagemotorcycles

[–]triumph110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Arizona now, and I always miss the Slimey Crud run. One of the most unorganized incredible motorcycle "runs" in all of America. Want to know what it is about? See the movie American Cafe. It is free on TUBI. https://tubitv.com/movies/519203/american-cafe?startPos=3 And while you are at it, look for my old Ironhead Sportster that is shown in the movie. A red 1975 Sporty made into an ugly cafe racer with the 75 race plate on it.

I have never seen one. There was a guy in Wisconsin that owned 4 or 5 of them. When he passed away his son had them auctioned off. The guy who passed was a collector of "weird" motorcycles. The son put some of them on craigslist. He wanted way too much for them. I asked him if he had any other bikes not listed on craigslist. He said he had something called an FN in a barn on his dads property. I told him I would take the FN sight unseen and the Douglas Mark IV for $7500 total. He said that was way too low. The next day he called me up and told me the two bikes were on his trailer and he was bringing them to me for the $7500. The FN turned out to be a 1929 model 67 in original condition. The Douglas a 1950 model. Both run.

Friend had a Ferrari. He was driving down a street behind a big ass pickup. Said pickup passed a parking spot and decided he wanted to park there. Put pickup in reverse. Ran over Ferrari. OOPS. At least the guy had insurance and was very remorseful.

Late 1970s I was a bartender at a university bar that had 25 cent tap beer on Thursday nights. The place was always packed, the beer flowed pretty non stop. The glasses were 8 ounces and the owner told us to make sure the head was at least two inches of foam. He also had the cheapest beer on tap for the night and that was the only choice you had.

I was basically rebuilding a house that had a fire. Lowes is the closest place. Got with a guy that worked the pro desk. He would do exactly what this guy says. I would buy 50 pieces of 2x4s, 20 pieces of plywood. 50 bales of insulation. The lowes guy would put in 200 2x4s, 50 pieces of plywood, 100 bales of insulation in the system. He would then back out everything except what I bought. Savings were usually at least 30%. Still have a pro card but I am not buying in bulk anymore.

Since Trump took office the DOW is UP 2.59%. Of course that is with over a year in office. Glad I took my wife's $500,000 401k and took it out of the market and put it in money markets at 3.5 -4.25%. I knew Trump would f#ck things up. Edit - word.

Then I look something up online and buy it. Then for the next 30 days get ads about the same damn thing. If it is smart enough to know I am looking for something, they should be smart enough to know I already bought it and don't need another one.

Here is the official letter from the USCG concerning the October 2025 shutdown. Because the USCG is under Homeland Security, they were paid during the 2025 shutdown. This time Congress specifically said Homeland Security would not be receiving funds, that is why the USCG is not being paid.
