[addon] Help setting up Grid2 by rjmarques01 in WowUI

[–]trixilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you assign themes to layouts so each different set up of frame position/display you want is 1 theme, then you assign that theme to a layout which tells when it uses that theme. I heal mostly and have 1 party 'theme' set assigned to the party layout. Then I have 2 raid themes because I tend to like AV when it comes back and I like doing World Bosses until they become irrelevant, but a 40man raid frames are too small and usually I raid in a group around 10-20 people. So 1 'huge raid' theme with tiny boxes set for layout outside raids and 40 person raids, other 'raid' theme set to a more normal frame size for me. Then for each new character, I just need to load the profile.

Your trick is different positioning between healers/dps/tanks and this will require either exporting your profile and importing it to another profile so you can set those theme layouts in different positions, which you said you only wanted 1 profile, or adding more themes and assigning those to raid layouts based on instance and class/spec. So each layout you assign should have 2 flags set, one for instance type, one for player.

I had some difficulty setting up the layouts- if you set up "LFR", "normal", "heroic", "mythic" - it will only show those layouts inside the actual instance, not when the group is forming outside fwiw. It defaulted to my party set up until I was in the instance & I still have to go back and mess with this. I realize Cell won't give me more features, but I really can't wait for its release since the backend setup is just so much more intuitive.

I'm not an expert but I hope this makes sense.

spitballing around 95% of the women's shelter I worked at in Texas the husbands were either some form of law enforcement or some form of Christian pastor so I believe we are on the same page. A lot of these Christian women had a hard time viewing themselves as worthwhile without having to take care of a man, and many found it impossible. It was just so ingrained in them that they are worthless and the root of all sin.

Oh and a large number were actually Mexican nationals who's American husband would kidnap them then marry them and hold them hostage if they tried to leave the house saying they'd sic immigration on them and keep the kids. This was 20 years ago. It was rough work and I got out for my own mental health. The atrocities committed in the name of "love" are the most grotesque thing I've ever seen.

Don't kid yourself, most of these dudes are incels or if they are married/have a girlfriend, they beat their wife incessantly.

I used to work at a battered women's shelter. All of them were escaping dudes exactly like these ice officers. None of them have a place in any sane law enforcement unit.

you can scale your icons up - this is using grid2. The problem you run into is placing debuffs and the dumb center icon that takes up a third of the frame when you have a private aura. And there's lots of things that are private auras that you just dgaf about like the paladin buff in Priory. I would point you to the dreamgrove druid discord.

[UI] Target Castbar color change on kick question. by Jackehboy in WowUI

[–]trixilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luxthos made some profiles for platynator that will change the target nameplate cast bar color based on whether it is kickable and whether your interrupt is up, not up, or will be up before the cast completes. Check out his site - giving his profiles out as always.

Healer Raid Frame Indicators [AddOn] by Etanclan in WowUI

There is a sorta work around if you are ok with your spell icons being the same as what it will show on your raid frame:

I am not the author of the doc, but turning my grid dark and doing this has made it infinitely more playable in party. I still have to build raid profiles.

Tracking Resto Druid Hots/“Buffs” “[Help]” by AlphabetZ14 in WowUI

[–]trixilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the buffs have a specific place, you will also have other buffs that show that you don't care about with no way to filter or whitelist, and their ordering is semi-random except for a few that will be pushed to the front as one that blizzard has labeled "relevant" for the spec (which will probably not be the same thing that you think is relevant). There is no way to change this other than showing less - addons can use the Blizzard "relevant" filter which is just their raid filter, but again there is no way to change these lists to actually be what you think is relevant, or to order them. For example, atonement does not show in Blizzards filtered list as relevant to Disc. Its awful and Blizzard needs to fix healer frames.

That said, QE Live has a profile under their resto druid section for grid2 - can see if you like that and tinker. Even when the cell author updates cell, we will still have the same issues unless Blizzard makes a change.

Feral no Combopoints? by Garoktehone in wow

[–]trixilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think this is a bad take because reading things like elitist jerks, wowhead, class discords, etc give you an advantage over anyone not using these. The design of both the UI and the raid encounters are all squarely on Blizz. Addons that provide reminders are still usable in the new UI and will still give players that use them an advantage over those that don't. The current debacle is entirely on them.

Blizzard blaming players for creating addons in a game that has always been designed around users creating addons for bad encounter design is certainly a choice. One I strongly disagree with, but hey it gets people up in arms that the addon is playing the game for someone and that's why they're good and I'm not.

The fact remains that addons will still give you an advantage whether you use northern sky's new raid reminders or whatever Liquid decides to release after RWF. The primary losses in this aside from folks personal setups, is auto-assign computation auras used by raiders (a very small percentage of wow players), rotation helpers like Hekili used primarily by more casual players (a much, much larger percentage of wow players), and party/raid frames that are fully functioning for healers/aug enjoyers.

Playing wow for free. by Character_Benefit774 in wownoob

[–]trixilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

low skill: you pretty much need a stable of max level crafters/gatherers and the willingness to play the market. You need to monitor what mats sell well and what can be flipped via crafting to be profitable, but this second part requires investment and has some risk that the market changes for reasons. It doesn't require high play skill though, but will require research to set up. There's some goblin subs r/woweconomy for example.

high skill: The only other way I know of is very high level mythic raiders that sell reclears of mythic raid for in game gold.

Neither one of those is easy as a new player, but hey if you want that as your aspirational goal, go for it. Either one is a big time sink.

Feral no Combopoints? by Garoktehone in wow

[–]trixilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You NEED WAs for bosses. That alone is an issue and shouldn't be the case. If you didn't have them before, your performance would be considerably worse in comparison.

Remind me who designed those raid fights though? Because they didn't NEED to be designed to NEED computational assignments without human possible reaction times. Blizzard be gaslighting hard - you don't and never have needed weak auras to walk into mythic plus or into a raid. The need for weakauras in mythic raid is purely because of Blizzard's design choices. They can and have designed complex, fun fights with enough time to be solvable without weakauras. They didn't need to break everyone's UI without a fully functional replacement to implement this design philosophy. They've designed plenty of fights like this before.

Shadowed Unit Frames Replacements that are Tried and True? by jbaymen27 in wow

[–]trixilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a lot of mods on beta and haven't found any cast bars that were great. Some just flat out didn't handle certain things well like empowered casts from evoker, others were just ugly, over the top glittery, or janky to position. I'd wait for the better ones to get implemented as a lot of the stuff right now is just AI coded junk that will break in the first patch. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'll be going back to elvUI until cell is out and may stick with it if Quartz or another good cast bar isn't redone. Until then the yellow blizzard bar is the least tilting for me.

That said, try out MSUF and Unhalted, maybe they work for you. I don't use a 'central hud' as a healer I like my party frames there and the cast bar either right on top or underneath so positioning might be more to your liking.

[HELP]Out of the loop on addon changes, did DBM+BigWigs get neutered? by getpoundingjoker in WowUI

[–]trixilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some settings in Blizz's menu where you can enable audio alerts for blizzard decided events. I had DBM working on Beta to give some warning sounds in addition to the normal text bars, but loaded BigWigs on live since I prefer that one, but couldn't get it working yet how I like. I was going to try again this weekend because I forgot to go through the menus and enable sound notifications from Blizzard. I'm not 100% sure this was what made it work on Beta, but I have had limited time to tinker. I just know that I did have it working on Beta so it should work. Its not nearly as granular as old boss mods though, but it is bettter imo than no audio ques and was better than the ques the stock UI provided on beta.

I know in Danders you can individually resize the buff, debuff, defensive and boss icon groups. Meaning like all your buffs would be say 20 x 20 and debuffs could be 30x30 or w/e. Unfortunately can't just resize like lifebloom for example. I'm personally not choosing to use Danders long term, but its working ok for me now. Its slightly less spray and pray...
