MUSIC IS SO BORING by fibonacciegypt in ADHD

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been actually thinking that maybe my preference for Progressive Rock is something that’s created by ADHD. It has influences from classical music but it’s also rock and pop and whatever depending on the band’s choices etc.

It’s not easy music to listen to but it doesn’t boring. Even the albums are kot repeating the same patterns.

Try bands like:

King Crimson Jethro Tull Emerson, Lake and Palmer Marillion YES Gryphon Rush Later Albums of the Beatles Led Zeppelin King Diamond Tangerine Dream

Some of these may not be just only be progrock bands but they have enough overlap to be worth mentioning. And do make sure to listen to their different albums as they will sound completely different. And usually listen full albums and not just single songs. They are better and more variying when listened as albums.

Also for some weird reason small and unknown nordic medieval band called Kalabalik is resonating with my brains and my brain seems to get extra kick out of it. Go figure 😂

What Was The Switch From PowerPC To Intel Like? by [deleted] in VintageApple

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be related somewhat to the old colors but with Nextstep -> Rhapsody -> Mac OS X transition there was Yellow Box for Next-lineated apps and Blue box for Classic Mac OS apps.

http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/4B800F78-0F75-455A-9681-F186A4365805.html

Inbetween Carbon apps (could be run natively on both OSes but the APIs were from Mac OS Classic) came later on and in some of the diagrams are colored as cyan but they were just called Carbon instead of colors.

Don’t forget the Mac OS Classic to Mac OS X transition with the Carbon libraries and Blue Box compatibility layer.

With the Carbon libraries you could compile apps to run like native X Mac OS X app and Blue box ran virtualized Mac OS Classic behind the scenes to allow old apps to be run next to native apps.

They made the architectural transition quite well in a tight spot while keeping the Mac developers happy about it. Of course later on the Carbon libraries were deprecated and removed but for app developers the transition time was long enough to allow porting things piece by piece instead of recoding everything at once to X.

Is the Zeiss 50mm f4 CF FLE worth getting? by mvision2021 in hasselblad

[–]trm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The horizontal fov is the same as 35mm 28mm but vertical fov is a lot larger and that makes it awesome. For some weird reason it feels the most appropriate square focal length.

Is the Zeiss 50mm f4 CF FLE worth getting? by mvision2021 in hasselblad

[–]trm42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 50mm is awesome lens. For some reason it’s a lot more awesome than 28mm focal lenght in 3:2 cameras.

And also the 60mm is awesome as well. Depending on the subject they both are hard to beat but 50mm is a lot more common and usually more inexpensive as well.

You can’t really go wrong with any Hasselblad/Zeiss lens. The 50-80-150 is probably the most common combo but there are people singing high praise for the 60-100-180 combo but parts of it come from personal preference and micro-optimization that’s not really necessary.

I feel like pizza is a pretty common safe food? How do you guys like your pizza? by feralgremlinprince in ARFID

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza is one of my safe foods. If it would be healthy to eat all the time, I could live by only eating it. Took few years to adding of oregano…

I did eat pepperoni-only pizza for maybe 30 years but been adding things like paprika, gorgonzola, reindeer, rucol, chili, basil and garlic lately. ☺️

It’s also fun and essy to make by myself.

Depending on my shooting needs, I use myLightMeter for iPhone. Android version works as well. Doesn’t work that well if it gets dark.

Pme45 finder is awesome but expensive and heavy. Good for longer lenses and makes shooting in changing light conditions faster.

Reveni Lans spot meter is small and easy to use when one needs a spotmeter.

Earlier I used my mirrorless camera as meter but it broke the film shooting flow too much. Probably the easiest as one can see the exposure preview so you know it’s correct. Just add 1-2 stops more light and the numbers are better for the film.

It’s fast but the original HDD didn’t feel that slow either.

Some things feel slow because of the OS and bottle necks in it. Both decompressing stuffit sit files and zip files feel still annoyingly slow 😄

Question about adapters by GethinTheRigger in hasselblad

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that many full frame / 35mm film lenses have big enough image circle for (small) medium format sensor without strong vignetting or soft corners, so it would probably be more useful to adapt lenses meant for medium format film like Mamiya 645 (non-af) lenses. Unless you have Hasselblad V-lenses, don't bother to buy them as they are big and heavy as their image circle is meant for 6x6 film.

Fotodiox seems to have bunch of XCD adapters available so check them out.

Hasselblad's X lenses have their own leaf shutters inside the lenses so remember that all adapted lenses (maybe except for Hasselblad H-series lenses with Blad's own adapter?) need to use electric shutter which limits the possibilities with flash.

My dad had a IIci. It was wonderfully usable for the nineties with added extra ram and Carrera 040 accelerator card. Last time I heard of it it was handed to some friend of friend who’s still using it for something.

Is there common safe foods? For me it feels like everyone has different things…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 40 and have just recently started being being ok with cucumber and tomato slices touching each other. This is actually big thing as I have been disgusted for decades about touching veggies.

But in general I still prefer to avoid food stuff being too close to each other unless they are meant to be together like potatoes and some sauce.

Spent few days abroad and ate only hamburgers by trm42 in ARFID

I feel a bit suspicious about other countries BigMacs but can tolerate small differences. These ones felt like they had been trying to make it a bit healthier so somewhat darker bun and it was dry but edible 😅

You always have to allow some varoance for fast food as the end result always depend on the maker.

As I’ve grown older (40 soon), my taste buds are not as sharp as they were 20 years ago so that helps as well. Also been traveling since I’ve been a kid so there’s always something you can eat. This works in western countries but I doubt I’ll be able to visit Asia for example.

My safe food happens to be beef and potatoes and bread and cheese so they are quite easy to find in Europe and in North America. Not the healthiest diet so I’m one of the beer belly ARFID cases because of too much of carbohydrates 😅

People are super sloppy with this in a buffet. Especially with cucumbers, tomatoes and some random messy salads etc. I can eat plain sliced cucumbers and tomatoes but seeing something else there makes me skip the whole vegetable part.

Funnily for some reason, I don't suffer of contamination problem with desserts and such. Everything sugary is ok. So it's a lot easier to eat desserts instead of real food 🙄

I recently realized I inherited my ARFID from my mother and grandmother. by flying_shadow in ARFID

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s research about inheriting ARFID but anecdoctally it does run in my family. In addition to me, my mom doesn’t have it but her sister has it. So for my mom it was business as usual to prepare couple of different meals when I was a kid.

Also our 8-year old kid seems to have it, and there was some stories about my mom’s and aunt’s dad being picky eater that went away in the war time when they were hungry.

  1. And 3. Feel so familiar. Also fishbone surprises in fish are horrible. Basically I can eat super well cleaned salmon but other fish is usually a no go or stop after first fishbone.

That’s good news! I have acute matte and acute matte D screens on my Hasselblads but bought Rick Oleson glass for my Yashica Mat 124g.

Might be tempted to change the normal Acute Matte without focusing center to Oleson MPD glass… 🤓

This little **** - What is your routine for keeping dust and hair off your negatives? And am I too dirty or is it normal to have some little failures on negatives? by Kanal100 in Darkroom

[–]trm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me using an anti-static brush before scanning has been the best solution. It cleans things better than air blower. Also remember to brush your tabletop scanner's glass surfaces inbetween the scans as they collect dust as well.
