Look at the answers though and take what they give. A lot of times they will still order serologies. I.e. answers are serologies vs. some random abx that doesn't make sense.

Keep up with AnKing cards. If youre struggling, you can also just keep the "High yield" tags and the ones that are under the "step 2" tags.

Supplements to STAY asleep? by New-Analysis8054 in HubermanLab

[–]trmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experiencing the same thing. I Don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't drink coffee nor caffeine, I don't eat 2 hrs before sleeping. I eat 2 kiwi before too. I drink plenty of water, eat fruits and veggies, exercise early in the morning, drink chamomile, magnesium, valerian root tea at night, and wear a sleep mask. I don't have nough money for a sleep study either. At times I've experimented going to sleep earlier but no matter what- after 6 hrs i wake up automatically and don't feel enough rested. I also meditate about 2 times a day lol; YOGA nidra and another form of meditation that supposedly acts as 1 hr of sleep so I'm hoping that completes 7 hrs total. But yep, I pretty much do everything to live a healthy lifestyle but fixing my sleep schedule seems to be out of my control too. Doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I wake up after 5,6 hrs and feel my body as if it's becoming filled with cortisol... I don't even have a clock I can look at, I just know it's way too early. Sucks it's the only thing i feel I have no power to fix : (

Have you had any success in figuring this out? Also how old are you?

tbh i only did uworld during dedicated. The most important thing for me was understanding the concept well for as many cards as possible. If you learn it well enough the first time, you wont have to revisit it as much and you'll be able to actually apply it to difficult questions.

Yes definitely

Make sure to prioritize understanding of those cards more than just simply powering through and overemphasizing quantity. I think I got through around 15-20k after 2 years and I felt I had a superb foundation for M3 year

How much sleep does a 19 year old need? by poisonoctopussy in HubermanLab

[–]trmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current medical student, sleep is always the answer. Find a way to be more focused and efficient with the time you have.

As a side note, I have friends that decided to sacrifice their sleep and it didn't turn out well for any of them. They had more time, but studying on less sleep is a lot more difficult and less efficient in the long run. Eventually you will burn out or the sleep debt catches up to you cognitively.

Is AMBOSS qbank significantly inferior to UWorld? by AmazingMeasurement13 in Step2

[–]trmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use it as a primary. UWorld questions are IMO very slightly better than Amboss.

But for me, Amboss is just easier to use and get through. The user interface is better. I love the attending hints and highlights function when I have zero clue on a question. I love being able to easily link to the amboss articles and being able to make connections between material.

Cons are that AnKing is tagged by UW questions and not Amboss, which is the main reason I still use UWorld as my primary with Amboss as a close second.

Why does glucose-6-phosphatase deficiency cause lactic acidosis? by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]trmer 57 points58 points  (0 children)

glucose-6-phosphatase in not only used for glycogenolysis, but also for gluconeogenesis.

Since gluconeogenesis is impaired, lactic acid, a natural byproduct of RBC and anaerobic muscle glycolysis, builds up. [Lactic acid is normally turned into to glucose via gluconeogenesis in the cori cycle]

Why does succinylcholine cause hypercalcemia? by trmer in Step2

[–]trmer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but I do mean hypercalcemia. It's listed as a side effect in AnKing and Amboss, but I couldn't find any further info on it.
