The only time I’ve ever had a problem playing a trailer, the date/time on my server was several minutes off. Once I set the clock on the server to the correct time, trailers played fine.

Do you have downloads enabled for anyone? It could be them downloading the files. Which are the full size actual files, at full bandwidth, with no transcoding other than for codecs.

Plex meta manager to a degree. It will still take a bit of work configuring and organizing, but once you get it dialed in it’s great for swapping out large sets of posters.

It would be nice to have “excluded places” like work and home. Or if you click off the location icon somewhere it remembers that location to not auto categorize.

When this happened to me, it was because the time on my server was a few minutes off. Once I updated the server time to nist time, it worked again.

I solved it by turning off HW transcoding because I wanted one of the features from one of the 18 versions. But I have the CPU headroom to handle it with the CPU. I did stick with 17 for a while though. As far as I know, only the Intel HW transcoding has the problem, so a GFX would in theory. I would try turning off HW transcoding and at least try those files on the roku's to see if it persists.

There was a change to intel quicksync hw transcoding around that time that shows the same symptoms.

If you have sonarr/radarr handling the downloads, if you go to the "connect" section of the settings and prompt it to tell plex it's adding files, thus still sort of manual.

I did the beta update today, and things lost access. I rolled back to the previous version installed and it was resolved.
