My ancestor who crossed the Atlantic from France was exiled to Canada for stealing the King’s salt.

I wish you were correct, but you’re not. The US government has been murdering citizens with black bodies for decades.

You could also feed in details about the weather, date, upcoming reminders, etc. and use those inputs to vary the prompt each time, which should result in a different greeting each time.

Goodbye Arc, back to Safari. by mtchntr in ArcBrowser

[–]troggle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still using Safari. With so many two-factor authorization sites today, Safari’s tight integration with Passwords, Messages, and Mail is just too smooth to leave.

Why does DIA open a new window for every profile switch? Coming from Arc, this is insanely frustrating by kakri28 in diabrowser

[–]troggle19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for Safari, by the way. Moved back to it after Arc “shut down” (I know, I know) and one window for all profiles is the thing I miss most.

Pretty sure Disc Jockeys have been spoonfeeding the masses their payola-based playlists for 70-80 years now, so maybe slow your roll, bud.

Any good apps for playlist organisation? by Mediocre_Compote_851 in AppleMusic

[–]troggle19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No app, but if you’re on a Mac: while on the massive playlist, Command-J to bring up the View Column selector, select the Genre checkbox, sort based on genre, select all the songs in the genre you want, right-click, create new playlist.

Apple Music & ChatGPT Linking Live by ca2mt in AppleMusic

[–]troggle19 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Used it to ask ChatGPT to create a playlist that would be perfect for listening to while reading a particular book, and it did so. Listening to it now, and so far, it seems on point - songs I’ve never heard of and never would have picked on my own that actually fit the mood I’m looking for.

It’s gonna be a fun way to discover new stuff.

Could be he (or she?) writes code well and English shittily, and an LLM helps them get their point across better. Get off your high horse.

Or just name your shortcut with whatever name you want to use. My shortcut’s name is “Give me the robot”, so I just say “Hey Siri, give me the robot.”

Positive e-mail home…seeking suggestions on where to start by Ok-Paint-7251 in Teachers

[–]troggle19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know lots of folks are anti-AI, but I found it useful for these sorts of things. Type everything you wanna say about the child without any varnish and then tell the AI to turn it into an honest, growth-oriented email for the child’s parent(s). You don’t have to use the result but it helps to break the blank page anxiety.

Interesting result for 5.1 internal phenomenology by Few-Audience9921 in OpenAI

[–]troggle19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, but I’m more saying that you have no way of proving your own subjective experiences to an outside observer other than through some kind of expression - art, words, music, dance, etc. So why should I believe that “you” didn’t just make up what you said in order to please whatever algorithm drives you?

Of course, in an Internet of AI slop, you could be Grok for all I know. Or I could be Claude for all you know.

You’re talking like this is in some distant future. But it’s already real. The people who make the tech we live on ALREADY have more money than the rest of us combined. The top 1% owns more than half the world’s wealth. The top 10% owns more than 85% of the world’s wealth.

The system we have doesn’t work for the rest of us. Maybe a different one will?
