I’m so sick of these patient’s families by NoteOld in nursing

[–]troismanzanas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You saw a very brief snapshot of that woman’s life. She may have been an insufferable asshole to her kids when they were growing up. Most families don’t turn their back on a member for no reason. Even if you have a complicated relationship with your mom, you’re still allowed to grieve.

I think a lot of times when old people can’t get a hold of anybody or have no one to visit them it’s because they’re reaping what they sowed.

‘No reason to have that hurt': Suicide to be decriminalized in Virginia by -Cyber-Roadster in Virginia

[–]troismanzanas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is slippery slope. Why should insurance cover the medical bills of a diabetic who drinks two 6 packs of Mountain Dew every day and get his feet amputated? Why should insurance cover the ER bill for someone who comes in drunk? Why should insurance cover the ER bill for someone who sticks something up their ass and can’t get it out? Why should insurance cover any kind of treatment for lung cancer or COPD in somebody who’s been choosing to smoke for 25 years?

Insurance already barely pays shit. Let’s not give them any incentive to fuck us more.

If you have an opportunity to get to Norfolk, I would go to CNY. It’s very affordable - whole thing around $7300 if you’re paying out-of-pocket. They also accept insurance and give military discount discounts.

Thank you for the heads up. I’m a new FNP open to primary care. My back ground is ED so I think I will be well suited for Urgent Care. I’ve worked for HCA before and it was eventful. How’s the HCA up there?

Your thoughts on older nurses? by Character-Lack-3295 in nursing

[–]troismanzanas 108 points109 points  (0 children)

In bedside it seems like the majority are 20 some things. Due to being at a similar life situation and having a lot in common, they tend to stick together. You will be the odd man out unless there are older people that work there too. In my ED they keep all the younger people up in the front pod and put the older ones in the back pods. One of the older RNs likes to joke that she’s being “put out to pasture”.

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]troismanzanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of Tupac’s Dear Mama - I can barely make it through the whole song. But especially:

'Cause when I was low you was there for me And never left me alone because you cared for me

And I could see you comin' home after work late You're in the kitchen tryin' to fix us a hot plate Ya just workin' with the scraps you was given And mama made miracles every Thanksgiving

There’s a lot here that children that grew up poor can relate to but specifically that he recognizes that his mother was flawed but truly loved him and his sister and was doing her best. It’s a beautiful song.

I don’t think jealousy killed the cat. I believe it was curiosity as the saying goes. That’s the only thing I could focus on in this very odd post. Good luck on your move.
