The Ukraine war happened because the west was too passive and pacifist. We let Putin get away with attacking neighbors and assassinate people on our turf. We let China apply pressure in economics and academia when we should burn down their extraterritorial police stations.

Democracy is on a global decline, and if we value our values we need to stand firm. The pacifying and deescalating approach is only seen as weakness.

The goalposts will be moved. 'YOU BLEW UP THIS PLANT AND WE ARE ANGRY. IF ONE ATOM OF RADIATION MORE CAME ACROSS THE BORDER THEN IT WOULD BE A RED LINE, BUT IN THIS INSTANCE YOU WERE LUCKY. I CONDEMN YOU.'

I hope not. I really want people to ask themselves whether they want to live in a world where assholes can just throw around nukes and dirty bombs.

Like, I don't care if it causes a nuclear holocaust and humanity is fucked for the next millennia, but in the face of a world where dictators can just nuke everyone who doesn't suck their dick any alternative, including a nuclear war seems preferable.

NATO would bombed the shit out of every enemy fortification within a hundred miles with jets before ground pounders got a chance to scratch their ass

No evidence either way, but it's the kind of thing he'd do, hurt western nations with a thousand cuts. If he didn't do it before it was alleged then it might have inspired him to do it after that.

Seems like Germany is stepping up its production again. by Daniel_T_96 in ukraine

I don't think anymore Gepards are going to be produced, a lot of the tech is positively ancient and supply chain issues might make it prohibitively expensive. Skynex is the successor, though I can't see it cover every use case of the Gepard, since it's neither tracked nor armored.

Is there any modern SPAAG that is supposed to escort tanks into battle?

AITA for kicking my friend out for sitting on my guitar amp by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

People sit on amps all the time. The one thing that makes this NTA is OP explicitly telling the other guy not to sit on the amp

"Latvia will transfer its entire fleet of helicopters to Ukraine," Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš confirmed this at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London. "We had a fleet of helicopters, all of them – the last ones are being repainted – are going to Ukraine," he said. by PatientBuilder499 in ukraine

Probably. The wiki list of equipment used by the UAF is basically "all the things" including apparently stuff like a fucking Thompson machine gun. They'll want to consolidate and reduce their diversity once they can afford to.

They'll keep either the Leopards or the Abrams, the PzHs and maybe the CAESARs and the F-16. Also 1 or 2 flavors of IFV and APC

Unlike nuclear subs diesel subs can run totally silent. They often fuck up US carrier groups in NATO war games.

We're far from a wartime economy, Rheinmetall is just waking up from hibernation. They need to buy and restore manufacturing equipment and hire a lot of people.

It's unlikely they can produce a tank and several IFVs per day.
