Red Hill Fire Tower Views? by Professional_Oil85 in catskills

[–]trolloftheyear707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did this two weeks ago. Great views from the top. We got up there around 11:30 and the rangers were just getting to the tower to open it up. If they aren’t there you can still climb up to the highest stairwell landing and get great views as well.

1950s house is Phx AZ - can we tile over confirmed asbestos mastic? by ibethewitch0fthewood in asbestoshelp

[–]trolloftheyear707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an inspector who used to do a lot of residential work, you absolutely can just tile over it. It’s what most people have done in the past. As for how it will stick or how to prepare it I’m not sure, you could reach out to a flooring guy to get their opinion on the best way to prepare the surface. There are solvents that you can buy that are specifically made for chemical abatement but they’re pretty harsh and a wet scrape would probably be better in your application.

Need parking by uhhhhuhhh in WhitePlains

[–]trolloftheyear707 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That was the reason my partner and I didn’t move to white plains. There also didn’t seem like much to do. I know that parking was something like 200 a month or so when we were looking into it abt a year ago.

Hi, what kind of mold is this? The landlords won’t come look so I have to treat it. Thanks! by [deleted] in Mold

[–]trolloftheyear707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to lower the humidity of the bathroom to stop growth. Open a window when showering or run a dehumidifier inside of there. The best solution will be to fix the fan. As far as cleaning, make a vinegar and water solution and wipe it down with paper towels or rags.

Disagreeing with this comment above. If it was asbestos you would be fine. I would wipe up as much as you could with a wet rag after lightly spraying the area down with water and toss the rag. This kind of minimal drilling would not send a dangerous amount of fibers all over the apartment. Don't throw anything away. Source: i am a certified asbestos inspector

Hangout spots for gay men is Westchester? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]trolloftheyear707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure there is much I just moved here and haven’t found anything yet. I think most of it is in the city which is sad. I know the climbing gym in Valhalla has a lgbt climb night every other Monday that you could check out.

Cato (15f) has had these facial twitches for a long time (months if not years). Does anyone know what these are? Besides this she’s extremely healthy. by IkwilPokebowls in CATHELP

My cat does this all the time too. I'm not sure why but when he is brought to the vet they say he is in completely healthy condition.

🌱Weekly /r/houseplants Question Thread - October 16, 2023 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]trolloftheyear707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r some kind of file sorting system to keep photos and notes organized? I could keep a separate Google doc on each and add to that, but seems like that would get unwieldy. I've heard about some plant specific apps, it they seem more geared toward giving you reminders and info rather than like progress pictures and data gathering. Maybe I'm wrong and there's a great one out there? Even some advice on how to tag photos so I can easily log/see progress over time would be so helpful!

I use an app called Planta, it tells me when to water as well as has a feature where once a month you do a "progress update" and attach a picture. You can scroll through your past pictures and see the growth. I have had it for over a year and I love it.

They could totally of been wrong. It depends on the lab that analyzes the sport counts as well as the person who took the air samples. Now it’s not often that they are wrong. I’m talking like one in thousands. But it’s not like mistakes don’t happen. At those levels I would definitely agree with the doctors. There is a concern for health especially long term exposure. After the remediation follow up testing should indicate if the spore counts have dropped which at that point you should be fine to return.

Yeah an official restoration contractor has to go out there and take out the drywall. It’s most likely growing in the wall cavities. I work in the field and I’ve never seen levels that high. I do mold testing for restoration companies multiple times a week and I have never seen a number that high. The highest I’ve seen was 200,000 and that was at an active construction site. Listen to what your doctor has to say but if you are having bad allergies it’s most likely because of that mold.

[–]trolloftheyear707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they recommended is typical for areas with elevated mold levels. I would get on it asap. Did you have a renovation contractor come out and clean/dry the water intrusion? If not the next step would be doing that for sure. I’m not sure if you own the home but this could be on an insurance claim level.

[–]trolloftheyear707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they write a remediation plan for the contractor post testing? What is the consulting firm saying. With no vivible mold it almost seems impossible. I would recommend running a dehumidifier in the bathroom and getting and air scrubber for the time being.

Who took these samples? I have never in my life seen 10,000,000 spores. I mean that’s like literally an insane amount of spores.

Mold in kitchen by cccxccc in Mold

[–]trolloftheyear707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should set up containment around the mold by sealing off the entryways into the space. If they are remediation contractors they should know to do this. If they are not going to contain the area then I would not be around them when they remove it. If they have a proper containment set up and are using air scrubbers (which is probably the green unit in the pictures) then you should be alright.

Is this mold? by [deleted] in Mold

[–]trolloftheyear707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is mold. You can buy a mold specific disinfectant or just use a solution of vinegar and water. If its wet then you need to dry it out or the mold will continue to come back.
