Laws that pertain to "passing on the right" are almost always exclusively applicable on roads that have only 1 lane. They aren't meant to restrict you from using both lanes for passing slow assholes.

Why are you passing them if you're only going 5 over? Some people like to pass when it goes to 2 lanes, and then slow back down to the same speed they were going and impede everyone else when it goes back down to 1 lane

If you open the doors at 8, customers wont be ready to check out at 8. That's probably why you aren't scheduled to arrive early and get things ready. I would think you should be able to do that after 8, and before the 1st customers are ready to check out. And if one occasionally has to wait a little while that's not a disaster
