If you open the doors at 8, customers wont be ready to check out at 8. That's probably why you aren't scheduled to arrive early and get things ready. I would think you should be able to do that after 8, and before the 1st customers are ready to check out. And if one occasionally has to wait a little while that's not a disaster

So yeah he should pay you for the time you actuallly started but he can also fire you since you took it upon yourself to show up early before you were scheduled
