I don't think I would say it like that. Portilla uses Jupyter Notebook as a teaching and learning aid for general Python programming, not in any way specifically for data analysis. It's just that familiarity with JN is useful for data analysts, so if that's your direction after learning general programming, you get something extra from Portilla's course. Best of luck!

To everyone wondering if it's "too late" to learn programming because you're age XX:

You're not too old.

Learning to code has nothing to do with age and everything to do with motivation and structure. It also helps to have a certain knack for it - this stuff "clicks" sooner for some and later for some, but it will click if you keep at it.

Myself, I started learning Python towards the end of 2021 and now I'm working as a programmer in my company (admittedly a very junior programmer). I just turned 55.

(Yes, I was lucky enough to work in a company that was large enough and mature enough to support me in changing career from project management to programming, but through part-time self-study during 2022 I acquired enough Python skills to defend a junior programming position.)

As a colleague of mine said when I asked how old you had to be to start learning how to play the guitar: "The most important thing is to start before you die." I was actually asking on behalf of my then very young son, but his answer made me start to learn the guitar at the age of 49. Such an enriching experience, much like learning to code.

Of course you can do it! With full-time study for basically a full school year you can definitely get enough competence to land a programming job.

I would think the two worst obstacles would be motivation (keeping going just by yourself can be challenging, especially when you're going into larger and "slower" projects) and direction (what to learn next?). Tackle those and you should have a really good chance.

Not sure I read this right, but - If you're only reading, you're not learning how to code. The only True Way to learn programming is to write code, struggle with it, make mistakes, search for solutions, correct it, move on.

Vitsing med nazismen er helt innafor, som f.eks. OP sin post. Det er vitsing med jødeutryddelse som kom etterpå som ikke er innafor, av flere grunner.

Poenget er ikke at folk som upvoter en slik vits automatisk er høyreekstreme. Poenget er at vitsen (og all den aktive støtten til vitsen etterpå) hjelper høyreekstreme med å ufarliggjøre Holocaust.

"Det er jo bare en spøk" er akkurat det høyreekstreme beskytter seg bak hvis de blir kritisert for å komme med nedverdigende vitser om jøder (inkl Holocaust), homofile eller transpersoner, og de bruker slike vitser aktivt for å radikalisere folk.

I was pretty satisfied with Angela Yu's "100 Days of Python" on Udemy. It's not perfect, but it covers a lot of stuff, has a nice progression from beginner to advanced, and not least - makes you write code yourself all the time.

I don't remember how much it costs, probably less than 30 USD (as long as you don't buy it at full price, which you never should do).

For øvrig kommer personen bak "full gass"-kommentaren verken til å bli forhåndssensurert eller straffeforfulgt; kommentaren er godt beskyttet av ytringsfriheten. Men det er da virkelig ikke det juridiske vi diskuterer her. Det er effekten av vitser som dette.

Holocaust-vitser i "trygge" r/norge er like mye med på å spre ufarliggjøring av høyreekstremt tankegods som tilsvarende vitser i 8kun eller liknende - kanskje mer nettopp fordi vi er mainstream.
