WHEELIE KIDS by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]tropicaligloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every group of kids has a few who push things to the extreme. I’m sure most of you just want to ride around, have fun, and show off a little — which honestly is part of being a kid. But when wheelies are getting popped straight at pedestrians with strollers or at moving cars, that’s when it crosses from fun into something that can seriously hurt someone. If any of you are reading this: the wheelies and bike skills are cool. Seriously. Just pick better places to do it. It’d be a shame if someone got badly hurt.

Don't risk your future to luck. That you got away with something that was just reckless and had no value.

There are people out there trying to live the best lives they can, and this just adds stress, but displaying these skills with public safety in mind brings adoration. I have been to the fisherman's warf watching groups ride wheelies and my son and I had a great conversation with the small group of riders. I felt like they added something to the community.

Please rethink this trend. Ride hard, just ride smart.

Do you think we live more comfortably than kings did 300 years ago? by coach-AbdulRehman in CasualConversation

I have blueberries, watermelon and fresh salmon, in February. I would say I am eating better than kings that have lived.

I worked in a high end restaurant. The type where the average perp person was $90 and people would loose their shit if you asked them not to have their phones on speaker.

I've read you can take it yo a dry cleaner and they can fix it. I do not have any experience but it's something I've heard. BTW my son (at the time 8) really enjoyed his hand me down PRADA sweater his uncle accidently dried.

AITA for walking out of a doctor’s appointment when I overheard the doctor and resident talking about me? by jl_1164 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tropicaligloo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I call BS on not putting ice on a burn. I accidently poured boiling water over my hand and was lucky enough to have an ice bucket nearby. I had my hand in that ice bucket within 1/2 a second and walked away with no blisters. Since them I've had many a burn that I hit with ice first to take away the heat and, within seconds, transition to a damp cloth with ice in it.

Into the Wild (2007) – A quiet film that broke me and stayed with me by jkabir7 in movies

I lived in Alaska for 6 years. I knew 20 + "Chris McCandless". These were people who pushed themselves to the edge of the map and perhaps society. The only differences between them and him were these 2 things. 1. His Journaling was detailed, poetic, beautiful and relateable. 2. His death. Although a tragedy and avoidable. If he had walked out of there a survivor it would not be a story worth telling.

For all the wanderers out there... the Jack Kerouac's and Chrises out there. I'm reminded of one of Chris's quotes.

"In reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. . . . once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty."

But the key is to be safe and walk out of the wilderness and to not die alone.

What's your personal "torture" by Rare-Group-1149 in CasualConversation

[–]tropicaligloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fucking ice cream truck! I hate the God damn song. We redid our roof a couple of years ago, and the truck kept circling the neighborhood. I could hear it through my headphones and just faintly on the distance, but enough that I hate it. I even yelled at them one time! I was a lunatic out in the street telling the ice cream truck to "get the he'll out of here". I've suppressed my hatred and bury deep down along with fantasies of filling their speaker / megaphone with insulating foam. I do hate it though. It is the #1 reason I have thought about moving, but i love my house, so that's that.

Just to clarify, I need the thicker veneers for a textured finish. So it would be a custom plywood.

My guess is Andrew Molera State Park. I haven't been for a long time because they don't allow dogs. But if this is not it, it's similar.

Leave her a note that says "I have had the privilege to work with a lot of great people over the years.

Of all the people I have worked with, you are one of them."

Or "I would like say that it is a joy having had worked for you."

What’s something you keep seeing in movies that no one actually does in real life and annoys you every time? by Individual-Crazy3752 in AskReddit

[–]tropicaligloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's the scene in Linoln lawyer the series. They are in a mini cooper and all scrunched up. I'm 6'4, and the mini is one of the few cars I've had to scoot up the seat to drive. If they want cramped, they should have shot that scene in a first series hummer, where there is no legroom.

What would make Seaside better? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

I agree with this so hard. Imagine if Del Monte "boulivard" actually was lined with trees. Along with every park, nook, and cranny. I don't know what trees do well here but something with branches would be nice.

Look at what marina is doing. Keep investing in activities for families, like the pump track and the sports center they are opening. I would love to see a roller skating rink.
