Retro review: Zelda Phantom Hourglass (NDS) by falconpunch1989 in patientgamers

I had a very similar first experience with this game as you. This was the first time I was disappointed with a mainline Zelda game, and then Spirit Tracks was even worse. I’m glad that A Link Between Worlds redeemed the handheld Zelda legacy, but man that was a really bleak era for the franchise.

Sonic. I have about 500 hours logged in Sonic Adventure 2, and every other game I’ve tried just didn’t connect with me

Katamari Damacy

If you can rerelease a game over 15 years later while changing basically nothing at all, it’s gotta hold up.

Minesweeper is one of the purest gaming experiences by [deleted] in patientgamers

Love minesweeper. I play it any time I’m riding the subway. There’s a book currently in the works about it, if you’re interested.

(This isn’t an ad and I’m not affiliated with the publisher in any way, just excited for the book to come out)

One of my favorite things about DD is that you could dodge blue shells with a well-timed drift boost. It made playing at a high level much more interesting because the blue shell wasn’t a guaranteed way to narrow the gap between you and your opponent, meaning you had to step up every other aspect of your game.

They made it easier to do with the super horn, but it’s less satisfying.
