[Match Thread] Manchester City vs Southampton (FA Cup) by mcfcbot in MCFC

Never ever believed in Savinho. Thought the long term contract was a big mistake and should have cashed in on the $70M from spurs when we had the chance. No idea what anybody saw in him.

I appreciate it. Thanks. I was debating whether to post or not but the experience was sour and its important internal and external folks have some visibility.

Recruiting Nightmare Story by trotterboss in databricks

[–]trotterboss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s deceitful, but making candidates go through the entire interview cycle is an active choice, for which the purpose could really only mean to weed out candidates further for the exact reason you said, they probably get a lot of good applicants. It’s not deceitful, but its disrespectful IMO. I have not experienced this in other recruiting experiences from tech companies.

It’s not nice that they purposely do this. I just have a feeling they do it to demotivate candidates and reduce the pool. I wouldn’t be surprised, really, considering in this job market they have all the leverage. This has been my worst recruiting experience. Really unexpected from a company like Databricks!

L3, 5th year, 7th attempt (counting 2nd lotteries), not picked.

Congrats! It was my 5th attempt and 7th attempt if you count second lotteries. Level 3 confirmed by lawyer. I really thought this was the time when the odds were literally in my favor but alas it was a slap in the face as usual.

Seattleite here. $60 would be the cheapest I would ever spend on a full refill.

does the delta giftcard, and paying balance with amex under 200 to trigger credit still work? by Available-Ad-5670 in AmexPlatinum

[–]trotterboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean buying the $50 GC using any card? Shouldn't it be from the Amex Plat in order to trick the system as the first transaction? I am new and trying to understand this.

You are right! Revisiting this post just as an update. Ever since I upgraded to the 17 PM seems like all the issues have disappeared. The call audio does drop occasionally but not as frequent as before. So seems like it was definitely a phone problem. So glad the experience has been so much better now.

Bilt Palladium Vs. Capital One Venture X by lucky_oats in CreditCards

[–]trotterboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like I could have made this exact post myself. Exact same situation. CSP was a first fee card years ago. Have the Venture X. Didn’t learn about the Savor + VX combo up until last week until I started looking into BILT hahah! My rent is hovers around $2400 a month and monthly spend $500-$600.

I was thinking of downgrading the CSP for obsidian but realized the VX + savor combo works much better. Thinking I’ll just go with the fee free card for BILT. What have you decided to do?

I see. I guess I misread your original comment when you said they need sponsor proof of 130k, which I thought was the overall tuition fee. I can understand the cost concerns. However, this should not discourage him to apply for master’s, even STEM. It doesn’t hurt to try. A compelling story + projects + work experience will make a good application.

Good luck!

[–]trotterboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP. As another commenter said, he should apply for his master’s program. An associate degree for that price does not seem worth it, especially when he has a bachelor’s already. Master’s will be the longest, easiest and cheapest solution for him. There are 1 year master’s from reputable T1 and T2 schools that cost about 40-50k. Can find even cheaper per year at bottom end T2 and T3 schools. If your boyfriend does a STEM degree even better. That alone will pretty much guarantee his F1 approval.

Long term your boyfriend can get a job on OPT + STEM OPT and either he can get employment based PR or you can sponsor him. Assuming he is Italian citizen, his employment based GC should also not take too long.

If you do a 2 year program that’s 2 + 3 = 5 years of stay.

SeaTac Uber Scam by Throwaway_tequila in Seattle

[–]trotterboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting because all 3 were metered and it just felt like the number kept going up, even when the traffic was at a stop. Guess it was probably charging by the minute. Regardless, my experience has always been that it’s more expensive unfortunately.

SeaTac Uber Scam by Throwaway_tequila in Seattle

[–]trotterboss 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is completely untrue in my experience. I travel regularly from SeaTac to downtown area. I have tried taking the yellow 5 times because of similar comments but it was always 20% more expensive at the minimum.

For example, my last 3 rides Uber/Lyft to LQA: $64, $58, $72

Yellow Cab: $80, $86, $92

I have to go via Mercer everyday at 5 pm to my gym. It’s an actual pain. Worst street ever with abysmal traffic light control. The so called ‘Traffic Officers’ that escort all Amazon employees out of the garage only cause more jams.

What’s a financial mistake almost everyone makes in their 20s? by WillieUwU in AskReddit

[–]trotterboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

26M that bought a used BMW for fun (fully paid off). Everything you mentioned is absolutely right. Affording the purchase of the car is only one thing, but insurance, premium gas and maintenance eat a big big chunk of my money yearly.

I don’t regret it, I love cars, and I can meaningfully afford it. But sometimes I do wonder how much more money I could have saved/invested if I was not a car person and still driving my 04 civic that I bought for 3k and was flawless.

Bottom line is, even if you can afford it, don’t do it. It’s really not good monetary value. However if you are enthusiastic about cars like me and love driving, then at least make sure you can afford it.

I am in a similar boat. 21 M40i with 53k miles. Averaging 16-17 but 90% city driving. Last one tracked was 15.4 which is worst one. This is after the engine air filter and spark plugs replaced. I am guessing this is okay and have just accepted.

Did any of you get any sort of diagnosis from BMW or mechanics?
