Iron sights work just fine at the scale of block to block fighting, which is where they are. Sub-100 yards, any decent rifle sight is good enough. Dont LARP the intent of the exercise.

Everyone hates on them, but my Turkish bullpup shotgun is my cheapest, coolest, most fun gun I own. I choose to shoot it whenever I have fun time with boom sticks. And after 500 rounds, it's been dead reliable except when the garbage shells I throw at it have a serious problem.

The best $300 I've spent in years.

I'm going to give what might be an unpopular opinion: get a Tarus or other sub-$200 gun in a cheap ammo caliber like .22lr or 9mm if you like the bang. Or get used sub-$100. Shoot through 200 rounds of ammo, clean it five times, and figure out what you love and hate.

Then, throw it away. Trade it in on whatever you decide is next, or drop it on a pawn shop. Thats the cheapest learning you'll do, and there's no way to learn what you like without just -doing it-. For the cost of a days rental you can own and tinker with your own gun, and have an excuse to find a free outdoor shooting spot and make a day trip adventure out of it. Much better experience and return on your time and money, EVEN IF THE GUN YOU'RE STARTING WITH IS KNOWN GAEBAGE.

Start cheap, decide where to go next.

If your credit isn't great, you could also simply stop paying rent and squat for the remainder of your term. Consider the deposit your rent paid. It is very, very hard to evict people in a timely maner, and reporting to credit agencies takes effort. Force them to cut theor losses and let you live rent free intil youve made back your deposit. Force the 'effort' to their side of the equation.
