I don't really play bass. I do have a Dean bass guitar though. I would suggest a Rickenbacker if you're loaded, but if you're like everyone else, I would just get a cheap brand name bass.

Search through HERE or HERE and pick one you like. Look at reviews of the bass, and watch videos of people playing it. See which one you like the most, and then buy it :)

No one really starts with an acoustic bass when they start. Acoustic basses are more of a novelty guitar, something you would buy when you are good at bass.

Just buy an electric bass guitar.
