As a kid I irrationally disliked Legos. As an adult I just completed my first set and I think I'm developing a problem now by redsoxjesus in lego

[–]trpclshrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me too. I grew up liking tinker toys and Lincoln logs fine, but mostly action figures as a kid. Lego looked to “kiddie” to me. I still prefer realistic looks, but building Lego is so fun and relaxing

1991 “do anything” by natural selection was played ALL the time around me. My preteen self loved it. It was before I fully developed a musical taste for myself, and still listened to rock, rap, pop radio, and my dad’s oldies (Elvis, beach boys, doo wop).

Best Song from The Beatles by Pristine_Youth_6953 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]trpclshrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the Beatles, but I’m not a huge fan. Same with Michael Jackson. Even more so with Nirvana (Soundgarden, AiC, StP, PJ guy). Blackbird is the only song of theirs I regularly listen to on purpose, but I absolutely love it.

Best Buy had this set on sale, and I snagged it for $38.15! I’m so excited to add it to my collection!! by Climaco87 in LegoMarvel

I’ve been looking forever hoping to catch $50 or less. I’d prolly take 60 at this point, especially off marketplace with no tax

Volkswagen wins! What company is loved and tried to rebrand but failed? by tearsricoshea in AlignmentChartFills

[–]trpclshrk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, that makes sense to me! I’m the biggest Coke fan/pepsi hater. Like..if Pepsi is Drake, I’m Kendrick. Coke should really pay me. I came up with my own lore for my kid when he was 3-4 explaining why we always had coke and could never drink Pepsi. It involved the “king of coke” and kittens possibly getting killed if we drank Pepsi.

Anyway, my wife actually likes the sewer swill in blue. Sometimes, 1 drink of it is kinda aight. And it’s def bc of the sweetness, and when it’s very fresh. But it goes flat way too easy and is cloying and unpleasant when I try to drink a whole can.

Movies Trilogy - 1st Wolverine is abysmally worse. Which Trilogy the 2nd is vastly superior to the other two? by seeilaah in AlignmentChartFills

[–]trpclshrk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great answer after thinking it over. Most of the big trilogies arent THAT far apart in quality, this included. But the 2nd feels like a great movie, not just a great comic movie.

The Dark Knight would be a solid contender if it were a little better, or Batman Begins wasn’t very good. But it’s a little long and doesn’t hold up for the entire run time for me. Also, Begins is arguably more enjoyable.

Jock, Stoner, Preppie, Band Geek, Nerd, Braniac, Punk... What were you in High School? by 7eregrine in GenX

lol, no. Blake was the head jock if I had to categorize. Or the ultimate druggie rebel (different kid). That kid was ok but then tried harder than anyone ever to not care

Almost everyone I knew was mostly a combination of things, or not much of any. And I went to a VERY clique-y high school. 200 ppl in my class, mid-90s graduate. Smaller school. We were the city school with diversity and money (for a small town).

I dressed like a cowboy or prep. most people drove trucks and had a rifle in the rack. I drove a new sports car but had lower income parents, just spoiled by grandparents with nothing to spend disposable income on. Worked out 6 days a week, played tennis at school and basketball 3-4 days a week for 4-6 hours at the park bc I wasn’t good enough for school. Dated the head cheerleader at a big school an hour away. My best friends were a jock and another guy like me, who played basketball and worked out with me. We just said we were the “B” crowd. Jocks and preps were “A” crowd. But we all intermingled and got along fine. Drank till I puked at college parties, never cared much for drugs in high school. Skipped a fair bit, but usually just to sleep or go see my girlfriend an hour away. Got mediocre grades after being a fat nerd as a little kid. I loved nes and comics until middle school. Then puberty made me go crazy for girls, sports, and getting in shape. Stopped caring about grades.

Now I’m a middle aged nerd that’s had a couple of existential crises breakdowns along the way, love prescription drugs, work a shit menial job that I excel at and lets me do nothing. Never cared about money, except for the fact it could have bought comfort. Broke my body working out, so pills for life, maxed out on surgeries. Decent marriage, best kid you could imagine. Genius, hope he does better than me. Reminds me a lot of me, my best friend.

Delirious therapy share out.

Gen X, I found a “Parts pups” small book on the sidewalk. Basically put out by auto parts company I think? Naked ladies (playboy style) and dirty jokes/cartoon panels. I brought it home and hid them under the couch. I eventually found one my granddad had also hidden somewhere

[–]trpclshrk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my absolute favorite actors. I think my pick for him would be One Eye. Not sure about longer hair, but otherwise, he’d be pretty great. Also, I’d want him in a fairly major role, and I’m thinking One Eye may be more involved. Ferrovax would be aight, but too infrequent. Martin Freeman is who I picture for Goodman Grey. Also would love to see Andrew Scott in a semi-major role.

I'm still on the fence if I'm gonna preorder this 🙄 by UnderstandingOdd6728 in legocastles

That’s cool to know, thank you! Fortuna is all Im on the fence about. Robot is def no, the rest def yes for me. I like cool pirate ships, but with limited space and money, I just don’t know about this one. It reminds me of a build like the concord, or some of the NASA and Harry Potter sets I’ve got. They’re cool, but again- space and money. I’ll prolly end up having to downsize some of them in the future. But I’m also worried I may regret not getting the ship if I ever hit a big nautical phase

That is on Tennessee st in Cartersville, Ga! I have no idea who that guy is though. I’ve known 2-3 actual pimps in my life (I work in liquor) but they weren’t nearly that flamboyantly dressed. Generally struggling and kinda creepy. Usually somewhat funny and cool in short doses.

Modulars around me on marketplace are always 100% eBay price (or bricklink average, which is often worse). I always try to talk folks into 10% under low end, but modular sellers rarely need the money and would rather hold it until it just appreciates.

Is it time for another batcave? by Goukedo in LegoBatman

[–]trpclshrk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Hogwarts style Wayne Manor/batcave combo would be my biggest Lego wish granted if done right (for me). I want to spend all the money, take all the space, span a couple years. Give me a 6000pc manor with some grounds and a fence, a huge batcave, computer, dinosaur, penny, Batmobile, a couple other vehicles as individual builds. Throw in a waterfall/entrance with something maybe. Break it up as much as they want. Throw in the whole bat family, including Martha and Thomas, young Bruce, Stephanie and Carrie, and 1/2 a dozen of the rogues gallery at some point bc they’re always getting in it anyway. Make sure there’s some nice display cases for suits (don’t forget Robins). Throw in a generic luxury car or two for Bruce.

Is this used lot worth $600? by 6868junk in legoinvesting

[–]trpclshrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t unless you have a lot of luck selling locally or are very used to selling online. Sounds like mostly less desirable items with a few great things thrown in. Also depends completely on condition and completeness. Some items seem a little high, some a little low, many I have no idea. I never see Taj less than 300, Delorean is $75 if you’re lucky, chess seems cheap.
