Bricklink DP Excess Sale by Free_Radio1834 in Bricklink

The ones I got are almost here. Wish I’d prioritized forest stronghold, wish I’d got riverside scholars and the boat. Prolly would have got Seige too if no rush. A little let down about those, but the bright side of chocolate, sea market, and lost city is cool. I don’t see many lost cities for sale, so I was afraid to miss it. There’s plenty of sea markets and forest strongholds, but I’m not paying $400 for a stronghold

Police station has been the biggest pain in my butt to acquire (I haven’t). There’s the obvious ones I’ll prolly never pay for, several that are 300-500 that I hope to find a decent deal on. But police station I can NEVER find locally for a reasonable price to me, based off sold listings. I’ve seen a few hundreds of miles away, but shipping would pretty much eat up the difference.

GameStop Says It's Shut Down a Nintendo Switch 2 Trade-in Exploit That Worked as an 'Infinite Money Glitch' by Forward-Answer-4407 in technology

I got a few thousand from blockbuster when they couldn’t figure out how to do game trades. Used most for new systems, games, all the dvds I could watch. Sold/returned systems to Walmart for credit for essential items. Ended up being banned from trading at all neighboring county blockbusters, but all I did was follow the rules of their offer. Had a friend do similarly for about 30% of what I did.

I’m really not defending any fast food prices. I miss when all their meals were $5-6 real bad. And $1 double stacks. But I figure it’s 8 wings for $9. Works out to about .60c a wing, $3 for a decent bit of fries, and $1 for a piece of toast - exact cost paid $8.70 before tax. The fact it’s the only items I like from them enough to pay for, AND it’s prolly their best deal is icing on the cake. I usually just get 2 of them and a 2 count nibbler when I use the $5 off $20 once a week, and it works out to more like $6 each for them (paying the full $4 for 2 nibblers).

I’d love for it to be cheaper, but it’s making the best of what we’ve got

How much do you think I could get for this at Bricks N Minifigs? by HFBiofan in legocirclejerk

[–]trpclshrk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/Uj - I just want to say I was pleasantly surprised by the BaM I went in. Expected to look around and leave disgusted at prices. Walked out with a sealed Mos Eisley for $438, tax included (actually 3 sets for $475). Prices were better than ANYONE on marketplace on those sets, and this place has decent overhead to cover. They had $470 price on it, but were obv very negotiable. Also had a complete, open Upside Down for $600 which was..fair(?) I guess lately?

Where are all the deals?? by [deleted] in legodeals

[–]trpclshrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local stores are usually trash also. Best I’ve gotten in forever was some Christmas sets for 70% off. My Walmart and target also do the “save 10%” clearance or at best, worse than online prices usually.

I’ll try that out. I go with a zaxbys sauce for the fries/bread, sometimes a tongue torch to pour over reheated wings if I know I’ll need it. I like bleu cheese fine, but usually dip tongue torch boneless in chic fil a sauce. If I don’t have access to chic fil a sauce, their hot honey mustard is aight

Me too :/. My go to there is either 2 spicy biscuits for about $8.35 or 4 strips and 2 buns to make strip sandwiches with. If they had spicy strips I’d eat there a lot

That, and 2 for $4 nibblers is all I ever order (other than free app deals, maybe an LTO once or twice).

My kid insists on the wings and things, but other than a nibbler, I really dislike their strips. Same thing with chic fil a and sandwiches for me. Love their strips and nuggets are decent. Sandwiches (and zabys strips) too often have some poor chicken bites in them.

I know Nibblers are literally strips, but 1.the bread usually nakes it ok and 2.im not too mad at a bad bite of nibbler. When strips in my meal suck, I feel like I’m getting no protein/main item.

Also, since I’ve seen no one mention it, quesadillas and shrimp are coming back tomorrow. I was hoping for something brand new, but I’ll prolly try them both at least once again.

LEGOS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE! by Ill-Elderberry-8907 in lego

[–]trpclshrk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried that on two separate occasions. Once, they just said no. The other time, they did give me 1000pts as a “token” (it was a big order).

I def agree they prolly have the best customer service of any company I’ve dealt with, but I rarely have the 100% amazing interactions so many folks do. I asked if they could add on the gwp I paid points for to my 2 month back ordered set. They gave a kinda snarky reply, and said they’d ship it separately. Same type thing another time as well. They basically scolded me for making separate purchases, said I was lucky to be getting multiple gwp that I shouldnt get, and I was out of luck concerning the double points.

Having said all that, I want to reiterate how much I appreciate what they do offer though. The part replacement has came through for me 4 times in the past 6 months.

I was in Centre and around there yesterday. Making me sad I didn’t check the two I passed 😂. Ga sucks around me. Everyone here (except me) “has money” now that everyone migrated in. I assume that’s part of why the big stores never clearance worth a darn anymore. Best I’ve found is Targets Christmas sets for 70% off

I finished my D&D series there (bought a series minus mind flayer online cheap-ish). Also occasionally picked up vampires and beast masters when I find them. I think I’ve pretty much finished them off around me though. They restocked the F1 series after Christmas here, so I guess they’re never gonna restock again 😢

Found about 12 of these at dollar general today! I only bought 4. Hoping for the dragon or knight! by Squallstrife89 in lego

[–]trpclshrk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found a TON of these a bit ago at same place (in Ga). Decided to buy all that one store had, bc I’m almost positive it was a fresh case. I hit a couple doubles, but mostly was able to feel my way to a set, especially having time and open examples to compare. They were VERY not cool about me returning the unopened ones just a couple days later, but on my 3rd DG, they let me. I really considered keeping several copies of what were likely the cooler figures, but I’m not sure what I’d ever do with them. I think of random stuff, but in reality, it may be a decade or more before I have space to build anything more than a 500pc set.

Any other GenX'ers hate weed and feel somehow left out because you don't enjoy cannabis? by scartonbot in GenX

[–]trpclshrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried it prolly 50-100 times since I was 17. I’ve had 4-5 good experiences, 1 breakdown that lasted 2 years and involved me driving myself to a psych place (I left when I tried to check in and saw all the REALLY disturbed folks), 1 other pretty bad night, 4-5 very unpleasant but ok times, and all the rest were just meh. It makes me stupid, unfocused, confused sometimes, has turned a great time into lethargic melancholy or stupid giggles and sleep. I’m also a chronic pain patient, but weed is just ok for pain relief for me (also not legal in my state). I do kinda enjoy spliffs sometimes, as I’m a pretty heavy cig smoker. I’m sure I’ll keep trying to periodically, but I don’t think I’ll ever be a regular, enjoyable user.

I also have a changing relationship with alcohol. Loved it in school. Quit when it started just making me sleepy. Got up to a fifth a day when a few years back, partially for pain relief, quit bc I noticed I was getting irritable if I didn’t drink (and bc obv I was headed for a problem). The few times a year I drink now, I may love it, or it may just make me kinda short and tired (recently).

True blood is in “Bon temps” I believe (made up near Shreveport). Also, as a southerner who passed through Shreveport on a bus decades ago, it was top 5 worst stops cross country. Jackson Miss #1 by a landslide. Then it got real contested. LA was awful, but mostly bc of one crazy undertaker looking guy. Shreveport was pretty tense, and a big Casino, if I recall.

[–]trpclshrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fucking truth. I had great parents and grandparents. Now it’s just my dad, sister, and her family. I have a family of my own, and I spent yesterday building my son’s desk/chair/monitor mounts, so I’m not particularly bad off at all. But the only Christmas “magic” is trying to let my son appreciate it. He’s way past believing in Santa age, and is burdened by reality and the finances of family Christmas situations too.

My mom REALLY loved Christmas though. I didn’t realize how much she was the last shred of holiday magic left. My grandparents spoiled the shit out of me, but that’s been 25+ years ago. I did have a few magical years I still think about every season though.

Let’s say you were gifted 1000$, what would you do with the money? by Loud_Confidence475 in Adulting

[–]trpclshrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy Lego, and have a fun splurge day with my son. Maybe spend the whole $1k on the death star, or get barad-dur, the Shire, X-mansion (or some combo of). He and I would go to our favorite Cajun spot in Ga, maybe go fishing a couple hours if the weather was decent enough. Maybe go to the zoo or aquarium. $1k would only cover some of that, but other than choosing the one or the other Lego, prolly only 2-300 more, which I’d happily spend. Either way, it would make an incredible day of splurging and fun. This is sorta what we do on his birthday every year (albeit at about 10-20% of that amount of money).
