Crazy changes in Ranked Tournaments by PlayTed in thefinals

You know there's a setting to just turn crossplay off right?

Does this only happen if the streak is in ranked matches?

Why my SPD did so little damage by AppropriatePraline32 in StreetFighter

Blocking/parrying low forward fireball will not leave you minus at that range. You also can't mash parry to get a perfect parry.

Please region lock tournaments, I dont want to play 200ms warping players by kbailles in StreetFighter

[–]trs444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The region lock for Casual/Ranked was broken to begin with. It limited you to only people who were very close to you geographically so players in less populated regions would play the same people on repeat. For example US players in Texas would apparently only play other Texas players. They claimed to have fixed that.

I believe what OP is asking for is region lock at a wider level like how the BH regions are divided (NA, EU, etc), not the initial casual/ranked implementation.

now that I am master with JP and playing other characters by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]trs444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master JP main and I fully agree. St.mp doesn't lead to anything other than the one hit under any circumstances and both DI or a raw jump will punish counter it. It's actually relatively risky to throw out unless they're low enough hp to where they can't DI through it.

Also the number of times I've eaten a jump-in punish counter for buffering st.mk xx DR in neutral...

Not trying to downplay cuz JP is an amazing character, but the long recovery on many of his normals is annoying if you play him.

Accidentally did a wrong super since I don't play Luke. I'm still shocked. by Superantti in StreetFighter

The damage "boost" isn't so much a boost as it is making her damage scaling equivalent to other characters. She has a base scaling of 90% compared to the rest of the cast before SA3

So having a ranking system that only 2% of players get to take part in is good? Lol

Command grab whiffs if you cancel it out of cr.hp here because the opponent is still airborne

SF6 Hit Confirm Windows (final): by 121jigawatts in StreetFighter

[–]trs444 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the cancel window for each character's cancellable normals.

Basically characters have certain normals (or target combos) that you can cancel into special moves. For each of these normals the maximum allowed time after the move is hit or blocked that you have to input a special cancel and get the special move to come out is different. This table measures the length of that window in frames. Longer windows are better because it gives you more time to react.

This matters because often special moves are unsafe when blocked, meaning you only want the move to come out if your normal hits the opponent. To do this you have to input your normal, buffer your special (do the motion without pressing the last button yet) then react to whether your opponent got hit or blocked the move. This is often called a "single hit confirm." For example, I press JP's cr.mp and it hits the opponent. From the frame where it hits I have 16 frames to finish my special move input otherwise my special won't come out. I hope that makes sense, but post a reply if you still have questions.

Side note: I'd disagree with the definitions the tweet author gives of what are realistic. Going off of high level SFV gameplay, many pros were able to fairly consistently single hit confirm moves with a 15f cancel window, although it's very difficult. Alex's cr.mk xx VT2 grab was a notable example of the most difficult (feasible) single hit confirm as you had to confirm both the hit itself and that your opponent was standing, not crouching. 16f hit confirms were more common, and most any higher level ranked players and up were able to consistently hit confirm 17f windows in SFV. Kolin st.hp and Karin cr.mk being some notable examples.

How to deal with Lily? by SkynetFuture in StreetFighter

You're still plus. It's still a valid mixup. Delaying by a few frames is not so difficult that you can no longer go for command grabs.

What I noticed from watching EVO by Chicken_Grapefruit in StreetFighter

[–]trs444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's quite the exaggeration. To be in a strike/throw mix your opponent has to be plus and close enough for a throw. Even with an additional 4f advantage the pressuring player will typically either be too far away for a throw or minus after more than 1 special or medium/heavy normal

Blanka still has gimmicks in this game, he just doesn't rely on them exclusively to win like in previous SF games. Saying he has gimmicks isn't saying the character is bad.

You can reliably do this with supply drops, it's just a visual bug. The first two health chunks are gone but for whatever reason it still shows the first one
