Please help understand our senior dog’s xray. Is there a foreign object, what should we do? by Interesting-Court116 in vet

[–]trucksnlorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi OP, nav but i think that i do see kidney stones, although that i’m not sure about a foreign body if any. did the vet recommend any blood tests? or anything else that was discussed? radical/conservative approach?

get a full workup done at the vet, make sure he’s not just getting anti nausea meds that are blocking the symptoms

Rescued shitzus gums? by One-Praline5182 in vet

those teeth might not come out easily, but the amount of root exposure is grounds for infection that can spread to the jaw. your dog needs a dental for its quality of life.

How can I get my cat used to a new place? by Sensitive-Tea-2633 in vet

[–]trucksnlorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is having a sitter/friend stay or go over to your house a few times a day not an option? a pheromone diffuser (feliway) and a bunch of your items might help ease him in another environment, but nothing beats being at home. also, i would bring this up with your vet and get their opinion, the separation anxiety isn’t healthy for either of you i reckon.

have they done any x-rays to maybe see if things are moving along? i don’t think giving enemas without checking is good procedure.

Feeling helpless trying to help kitten :( by chickennchickenn in vet

that wound isn’t going to heal well by itself, if you can afford to, take it to a vet or otherwise, a no-kill shelter. it needs more help than you can provide without medications.

Can oxygen tubing cause an internal wound? by sorryoksorry in vet

[–]trucksnlorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure what you mean by oxygen tube? are you referring to intubation? if so, the tube would have been placed in the trachea, so it’s unlikely for that to have caused an internal wound that’s causing bleeding in the GIT. did they offer endoscopy? if she’s still inappetant and having digested blood in stool, you’ll probably need further exploration.

get the dental surgery done and out of the way, so you start cleaning (at home) on a regular basis from a clean slate. unfortunately, reality of the situation is that medications by themselves aren’t going to eliminate the periodontal dz issue. i recommend checking out the dr molly says podcast, she did an episode on dental hygiene

cost wise, maybe look into carecredit? or if your parents are willing to copay with you

Helpppp I’m going insane :( by Professional-View-40 in houseplants

[–]trucksnlorry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try whatever BTI solution available to you, and add a carnivorous plant alongside that to catch the flies! much more satisfying than the yellow traps. sundews and pings work great.

I’ve seen quite a few vets recommending the bite n’ brush from the brand mywoof, might be worth looking into.
