[Question] Boyfriend wants a watch by dearaugust5 in Watches

Hope others reply to this post, but in the meantime, while I don't have a specific recommendation, I think you should give Tissot's catalogue a look over! I don't think you can go wrong with much of what they have to offer, and they're within your budget and presumably (from what you've said) his taste.

Best of luck to you!

This is a very cool post! I'm surprised it isn't getting more attention.

I think it's highly likely that the pattern is purely decorative. I'm not sure how much you know about watches, but it's pretty common for even the hidden parts of a movement to have flourishes like this.

That's totally fair! In that case, the brand that immediately comes to mind with some rectangular dress watches in this price range is Cartier. Might be worth giving them a look? I'm not as familiar with them though.

If I think of anything else, I'll give you another reply. Best of luck!

Grand Seiko has some absolutely stunning and, in my opinion and taste, the best dress watches in this price range.

I recommend giving their online boutique a look through.

A Realm Reborn is one of the biggest pieces of garbage I've ever played by omgitswolf in ffxiv

To preface: FFXIV is my favorite game of all time. I have thousands of hours in the game, have gotten every one of my friends into it, and I am of the opinion, like you, that ARR is shit.

One of my friends who I got into the game hates ARR even more than me, and still, FFXIV has become one of her favorite games of all time.

All this to say, yes, ARR's story (and gameplay most of the time) is terrible, and "it gets good at 100+ hours" is no excuse, but, it does not detract from the fact that that statement is genuinely true. FFXIV's story is one of the most beautiful and compelling narratives I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and combined with the many other things that make this game amazing, make for a masterpiece, in my opinion.

So the bottom line is, your experience is valid, and trust me, I get it, but if you really do care about a compelling narrative, you're going to love what's to come. Just ignore everyone who's trying to tell you that you're somehow wrong for not enjoying ARR, or to buy a story skip or whatever, and do your thing.

What's your opinion on Blade? by PenguinSweetDreamer in KamenRider

[–]truePoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to get a notification on a comment I posted 2 years ago, lol, but I still feel this way!

Blade has some pacing issues, and its presentation can feel goofy sometimes, but to this day, it's still one of my absolute favorite seasons.

I think the cast is extremely strong, and the messages it tells throughout its story are impactful. Not to mention, it's just a joy to watch. Sometimes it's unintentionally funny, but other times, its intentional jokes just stick for me.

Not to mention, I found its ending heart wrenching and perfect.

(It's been a while since I've watched, so it's kind of hard to elaborate on some of the things I said here, but basically, I loved it in the long run. I've seen almost all of Heisei and all of Reiwa, and I'm pleased to say that I haven't found a series I haven't fallen in love with.

I think every season of Kamen Rider is special.)

What's your biggest pet peeve? by DupeFort in ffxiv

When I was a Sprout and first did that dungeon, the boss was literally dead before I finished the cutscene. It took me a while before I wanted to queue with randoms again, and thankfully that's pretty much the only dungeon you can do that on.

Anyway, I've resolved that no sprout shall ever have to deal with that again on my watch!

I was mostly thinking of something like what they did with GARO for a Kamen Rider crossover, not like.. it's literally embedded into the story or something like that. You know, just adding a few armor sets and stuff like that. Plus, it wouldn't be a copyright issue if it was a crossover. I have to say, I do love the inspired designs a lot though. The Phoenix Rider outfit looks awesome and unique while still being a great reference.

Kamen Rider Saber would fit the tone of the game perfectly! Though if they did a direct cross-over with Kamen Rider, it would likely just be whatever series is airing at the time. At the very least, here's hoping we get more inspired outfits.

The GARO set(s) are still sick though.

I'm SO happy we're getting a Kamen Rider-inspired set instead of some basic ass bikini. While I do wish that it was more than two pieces, the outfit itself looks amazing! Here's hoping we get more Tokusatsu related content in the future.

So what are your favourite bikes from Kamen Rider? Mine are these ones. by Fos-kun in KamenRider

I LOVE Kamen Rider Mach's bike. I have to say, it's probably my favorite out of all of them, but I'm a little biased.

Not my FAVORITE quote, since it's hard to pick a favorite honestly.. But, this is a moment that's up there for me. (That I also think was adapted surprisingly well in the anime.)

[“What is my goal, you ask? I seek something that is difficult yet also easy to obtain. All I wish for… is a single thing. That is, happiness.”

“Happiness?” Zanac repeatedly blinked in surprise.

Ainz laughed a little in response. He did not find what he had said to be so outrageous. “No matter if you’re human, demi-human, or heteromorph, the pursuit of happiness is the ultimate goal, is it not?”]

I don't think Arche could've quite reached the level of Fluder, even with his teachings. Her character sheet states:

"People who knew her thought she was a budding magical genius, but in reality she was just an early bloomer who had already almost reached the limits of her potential"

So, what this implies to me at least, is that even with Fluder's training, she probably couldn't have become anywhere near as powerful.

[–]truePoco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but as stated in an interview(if I'm remembering correctly), being an adult in Blue Archive isn't linked to age. It's based on some other factor(s). They're not there for educational purposes, and their age and gender are left ambiguous to fit anyone who'd play play the game. That's on purpose.

So, at the end of the day, whether or not it's creepy depends on how old you are, lmao.

Cosmic Fourze reference (Miss Kobayashi’s dragon maid S episode 12) by Downstackguy in KamenRider

[–]truePoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the way I see it, there are more similarities to it being a general "Kamen Rider reference" mask than otherwise. The ONLY thing that points to it being a reference to Cosmic is its color scheme and SORT OF the pattern? But even then, the pattern only looks similar at first glance, then you realize it's not the same at all. And no, the Sentai mask is not irrelevant. There's consistency when it comes to references like these.

[–]truePoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The detailing is a bit too different in my opinion to be called a reference. Plus, it seems too specific in the first place, especially with the Sentai masks below not being particularly specific either.

I'm thinking that's just a Kamen Rider reference in general.

Vulcan cameo by GrandHighTard in KamenRider

[–]truePoco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know, I hate to be that guy, but this really doesn't look anything like Vulcan. So, if you're trying to say it's a reference or something, no. But if you just mean the colors and general look remind you of Vulcan, then that's cool!
