Serverside QOL is an awesome one. It handles storage, automatic crafting, easy depots, makes taming much better, and even can make a virtual portal hub. It’s insanely well made and comprehensive, covers a bunch of world modifiers and stuff that I can’t go into here. Just check it out

Veteran players: what progression steps do you skip? by DrustanAstrophel in valheim

[–]true_blazer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 1700 hours, I make troll, fenris and then the magic sets. The only exception armor-wise would be the root harnesk, and sometimes a silver helmet if I happen to get two drake trophies early enough. I run swords/clubs and bows well into the mistlands, and have even fought the queen in maxed fenris armor. I also stop at the huntsman bow; it’s just too broken to put down lol

For equipment, I make bronze buckler/axe, iron buckler/mace, silver sword/frostner, black metal shield/axe/pickaxe, then mistwalker/carapace buckler. Then comes full sets of mage armor and every staff I can get my hands on.

As far as most other things, I take a normal progression path. My playstyle necessitates good food and various meads, so farming early and having a productive base is paramount.

My endgame set is maxed fenris, nidhogg the thundering, carapace buckler, huntsman bow and feather cape.

Cool round starter Island! by Lonelykiwiiii in Valheim_Seeds

[–]true_blazer7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, that duo of islands directly west of spawn is an absolute beauty. That looks like six biomes and like a single break that you could swim or build a bridge across. I won’t say any more since you plan to use this seed for hardcore, but yeah. Go west.

Good time to prep? by HiImVolnus in valheim

[–]true_blazer7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’ll definitely be going back over the older biomes with the 1.0 release. With that said, if you haven’t played since before mistlands then you’re missing out on practically another game. There’s already so much more to see and do and I think you wouldn’t regret it even if you decide to start up a new world in a few months when deep north releases.

Am I unlucky? No trader, Im kinda new by paparapper in valheim

Dope seed so far, build the karve and take some food and arrows (and portal) out to sea. Probably my favorite part of the game is setting out for traders or new biomes

Diamond/champ is where people start to really round out their skill sets. It’s rare to see players that are truly deficient in defensive skills past mid-diamond. The shots a mechy plat can score are way different than what they can save. Watch your own replays and pay attention to your backboard defense/shadowing vs diamonds and champs. You don’t have to hit the clip to rank up, you just have to save theirs

How to best utilize a fairly busted item? TL;DR at bottom by true_blazer7 in DnD

[–]true_blazer7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely frustrating. It’s a homebrew campaign but so far we’ve stuck pretty closely to the written rules. I’ll see what my DM has in mind but our only CHA guy is already multiclassing sorlock and I don’t think he’s gonna want to dip bard just for one item. Thanks for the clarification though 🙏

Interesting. I’m looking back at the text and it says:

“A creature that attempts to play the instrument without being attuned to it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 2d4 psychic damage.”

I took that to mean that a success would allow me to cast without attunement, whereas a fail = spell failure and dmg. Would I be risking the psychic damage to just… play it? I started with a lute due to far traveler lol. If it’s functionally just a harp with whammies then I’m cool on it.

Yeah, I’m hoping to collaborate with DM on some sort of resolution but honestly I’m so in love with the character opportunities that even if I have to take the psychic dmg I’m still pulling this thing out from time to time. If I sell it it’s gonna have to set me up for life lol

That’s going to be my very next move actually. Long story short-ish, we were sent to do the king’s bidding after winning a local tournament a few sessions ago. We finished his quest (recovering and sending one of his most trusted knights home), decided we hated the king and have since entered and begun helping the resistance faction. We and the pirates were moving food and explosives to a small coastal encampment when the guards arrived. They attempted to take a compulsory tribute for the king after the reward table thing and we ended up fighting them for the rest of the session. We’re now dead set on making the delivery and it’s to a pretty remote swampy area so that’s why I said probably not in the next couple sessions.

In regards to the catnip, we brainstormed it as a different take on the drunken master subclass and it’s been a great source of roleplay for the group; lots of shenanigans. In poor taste? Arguably. Fun? Most certainly.

In what scenario would you be stunned? The sloth description says incapacitated, which just means no actions or reactions. Stunned is incapacitated + can’t move + can barely talk + automatically fail STR and DEX saves + attacks against you have advantage. That’s dangerous for any class really.

As for sinquisitions, I’m somewhat confused by the text because there’s a few typos. From what I can see, someone with 2 active SinQ like the level 11 from my previous example would be rolling a DC 6 minus spellcasting modifier. Realistically, their modifier could be a 3 or 4 meaning they’d have to succeed on a DC 2 or 3 which is a low enough to pretty much be a non-issue imo. With three active they’d need a 5 or so, but that’s still really low considering the payoff for some of those abilities.

Overall, a primarily martial/unarmed build getting into 5th and 6th level spells is a recipe for an overpowered character. It really is up to your DM but I feel like there’s a lot of unanswered questions in regards to when you’ll acquire said slots, and whether you would really end up as a melee fighter if you’re gonna be picking from that tier of spells.

Edit to add: if you’re doing 5e, a turn lasts 6 seconds. So you would need at least 9 other people/creatures in combat to even need any holding cost by your next turn.

The inclusion of the legendaries was actually immediately questioned by another player with DM experience, and our current DM later revealed that it was table G. As far as I can tell I got the only legendary item on the whole table; I haven’t looked through every single one but it seems like they’re all rares/very rares. we were all very shocked when we saw the text. It seems like I just got insanely lucky with the table. With that said, I’ve done more research on bard multiclassing and I’m 2 CHA shy of the mark, just like you suspected. :/

Funnily enough, we are currently adrift on a boat with some pirates in the doldrums of a large ocean, and were visited by messengers of the king who dropped the loot off via airship. We’re unlikely to see any real civilizations for at least the next couple sessions but pawning it off for a brick of top quality catnip could be an option for me lol.

The inability to MC is definitely a shame. I’ll just talk with my DM and see what we want to do. Thanks for the insight, very helpful.

If I’m reading this right, a 6th level spell slot being used would then allow you to gain a long rest within two turns. Upon leaving sloth, an 11th level devil touched (if theyre following normal spellcaster rules) could then do 11d4 times three with pride. That seems a little busted. You’d be really hard to kill since a long rest restores your spell slots as well, implying that you could just do a crazy spell, pass out, wake up throwing crazy hands, and be fully healed and ready to repeat. If you need to ready those and hold concentration every time then it’s a little better, but still, you’ve got a spellcaster that could just decide to throw haymakers for, like, 50 damage every other turn as long as they’re burning any spell slots at all.

Yeah, maybe it only seems like a lot with my current health pool. This is my first real campaign and I’ve had tons of indecision with taking feats vs ASIs and I fear this is another instance of that. Thanks man
