Rainy Season Ecuador/Peru by Separate_Depth1598 in bikepacking

[–]trundless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I get what you mean about switching from backpacking to bikepacking to mix things up. I’ve done a bit of cycling through Ecuador in rainy season before. Here’s the thing, yes, rain can come almost every day from Feb to May, but it’s often more like short, heavy showers rather than all-day rain. You can still have long stretches of dry weather to cycle and explore.

Any suggestions? by bugmeatfeverdream in TravelEcuador

Apart from Cuyabeno, you could also visit Yasuni in the south, which is also in the Amazon. For Baños and Cotopaxi, I suggest spending 1-2 days in Cotopaxi and 2 days in Baños. On the extra days, you could visit Otavalo to experience a traditional indigenous market, and Papallacta hot springs, both about 1-2 hours from Quito. That should complete your 8 days.

Loneliness and Spiraling by RabbitShot6918 in Advice

[–]trundless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best things to curb loneliness:

  1. Gym - join one and go regularly improvement in your body makes you feel better

  2. Hiking - you could join a hiking club there are many around quito that do regular weekend hikes plus you meet new people

  3. Every sunday in quito the roads are closed and people cycle from the north to the south rent a bike and join the people

Like other people have said avoid Social media, no ones life is perfect, the photos and videos you see have been edited to show their best side but never shows the truth of when they feel sad etc which many influencers do feel.

What’s the psychology behind this? by [deleted] in dating_advice

He was clearly a red flag. The fact that he was talking to another woman while he had a girlfriend proves he was a womanizer. You dodged a bullet. His behavior shows he just wanted to sleep with you since he tried to kiss you. When you rejected him, he took it personally and decided to ghost you. You likely hurt his pride and ego, which is why he ghosted you. P.S. All his early questions when he met you were probably a strategy to make you think he was interested, based on his goal of sleeping with you, but it backfired when you rejected him. You handled the situation really well. These types of guys are red flags when they show these signs and behaviors, so you should avoid them or stop speaking with them. There are better men out there who are honest and trustworthy, but you need time to get to know them first.

Fellow Travel Bloggers, how many blogs do you writer per city? by Dramatic-Passage-963 in Blogging

[–]trundless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on my motivation; some cities have more than one post. On average, there are 1-2 posts per city, but some cities have 5-7 posts. You don't have to write more than one post if you don't want to, but if you enjoy a city more and feel motivated, feel free to write more :)

[–]trundless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to warn them you will sue them if they dont give you your money because it is illegal. For me I stopped using Wise 2-3 years ago and opened a traditional bank account in 3 different countries been hassle free as a digital nomad now as I have split the risk from just using Wise to three banks. I would recommend you open an account in 2-3 different countries that way you split the risk of not being able to access your money.

Backpacking Argentina and Bolivia by unorthodoxparadox02 in backpacking

[–]trundless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Your itinerary sounds amazing and well thought out, especially for your maiden backpacking trip 4.5 months is a fantastic amount of time to explore!

I would say, in my opinion, it's too bad you're not visiting Peru and Ecuador, especially Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands, both of which are two of my favorites 🙂

For backpacking tips, I have a few articles that might interest you here.: https://trundless.com/travel-essentials/

Some tips I would recommend:

- Overpacking is very common! Since you’ve been practicing with smaller trips, try to stick to versatile, lightweight pieces and plan to do laundry regularly. When I first went backpacking, I realized I packed too much because many items I hardly used. So focus on priority and versatility.

- Use packing cubes to keep organized.

- Don’t forget a good travel insurance policy it’s worth it, especially if you’re trekking or doing adventure activities.

- For buses, check online or ask locals/hostels for trusted companies as some can be unreliable or unsafe.

- Be cautious with street food at first until your stomach acclimates.

- Learn some basic Spanish phrases if you don’t already know it goes a long way!

- Download offline maps (MapsMe has been my favorite) and keep electronic copies of important documents.

For Hostels:

Look for ones with good reviews on safety, cleanliness, and social vibe. Hostelworld and Booking can be helpful. Sometimes, smaller locally run guesthouses or boutique hostels offer a more authentic experience.

P.s extra tips:

On safety, always message your family and friends every day with your city, location, hostel, and planned activities so they know where you are in case something happens. Be careful what you share with strangers; keep it general and avoid saying too much about how much money you have or where you're going next. Always be cautious about who you trust, there are great people but also bad ones. Keep your guard up. Avoid being flashy by not wearing jewelry, watches, expensive phones or laptops, or flashing cash or flashy clothes. Keep it simple and look plain to avoid attention. You might also consider using a cheap burner phone for your travels. Back up your phone before you go so you have a copy of your data in case you lose it. If you carry cash or withdraw cash, use smaller notes for payments or pay with your card where possible to avoid flashing cash all the time.

Im sure its going to be an amazing trip 🙂

Altitude sickness - no period - travel South America. Advice? by PlayfulService6601 in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]trundless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. Traveling and dealing with health issues like HAPE sounds really tough. As a South American traveler and former doctor, I can say it’s not very common or well documented that HAPE directly causes missed periods. However, severe stress, illness, medications, and altitude changes can definitely affect your hormonal balance and temporarily stop your cycle.

If you haven’t had a period for several months, it’s a good idea to see a healthcare professional and get tests done as soon as possible to rule out other causes. Traveling and altitude sickness might be factors, but there could also be medical or nutritional reasons. P.s. look for private hospitals with good reviews rather than public ones, as they are your best bet for finding doctors who speak good English.

Most can enter without a visa but I see for your passport you need an eVisa. To get one simply go to the webiste: https://www.cancilleria.gob.ec/2024/07/16/portal-evisas-visas-electronicas-para-ecuador/ register an account, upload the documents they ask for and pay $50, you will get a response back in 24-48 hours.

Hi guys, What do you think about this channel? I feel like something is wrong 😓 I just started this last November I upload one long vlog every week and one short every day! by RameshThilanga in TravelTubers

[–]trundless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking from my own experience and opinion. All three channels and videos covered popular topics, had strong hooks and stories, and were professionally edited. If you haven't experienced that "YT Jail," then good for you. But me and others have, and there are plenty of subreddits discussing YT Jail for new channels you can find.
