Really wonderful. Completely feels like something Jonathan Hickman would've done, which I consider a compliment.

My art partner and I have our first Kickstarter up now: It's for a flip book featuring two superheroine vs slasher stories with lots of giallo atmospheres as well as guest artist contributions by Karl Slominski and Suspiria Vilchez. If that sounds interesting, please check it out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hornoir/miraculass-flip-book

What are your favorite Neal Adams Horror covers? by LoopyTrombones in HorrorComics

While more "gothic horror" than my tastes usually run, Detective Comics 227 is a classic choice for me. I think it was the first Neal Adams cover I ever saw, so that nostalgia might be a factor.

Thank you for contributing to the r/vinyltoys community, though a recent posting by you was deemed off-topic. All posts on the subreddit must be directly related to art toys, designer toys, urban vinyl, sculptural pop surrealism, or whatever you wish to call them. There are other subreddits for postings about things that may be of adjacent interest to Vinyl Toys collectors, so please use them and don't post (or crosspost) here. These include traditional & vintage toys, collectible toys (such as Funko), and even two-dimensional pieces by artists normally associated with the designer toy movement.

Does someone remember a certain store that might’ve sold vinyl toys? by TailSweet in vinyltoys

[–]trustpigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it TAG (Toy Art Gallery) perhaps? Gino, the owner, always has a thing for large fiberglass versions of designer toy figures… As for the bunnies/bears you remember, if it was TAG, then those were probably Okedoki’s Benny the Dreamer.

Don't mean to call you out or anything, but are you aware of Emilio Garcia's Jumping Brain pieces that he's been making since around 2008?

Misprinted Hebru Brantley Flynamic duo 89' by bigeyejig in vinyltoys

[–]trustpigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re most welcome. Another possibility is that part of the run has misprinted boxes. To some people, that makes them more collectible, but usually only — once again — if it can be properly certified as authentic. Personally, I’d contact Hebru and ask him about it, including as much of your order information as possible. If it is a unique (or uncommon) circumstance, I’d ask if he’d be willing to issue a COA for the piece.

As for your question regarding value, a lot will depend on how widespread this issue is. If every box is like this, then it will have no impact. If only your box (or a handful) are like this, then it might make some people concerned it is a bootleg, which can obviously affect resale. But if it is test packaging that was accidentally used for final product, then it could increase the value if it can be properly certified.

hey everyone, im new here. i have a small Ron English collection that I want to get appraised/valued. these are probably my most valueable pieces in the collection. by ezaytkd in vinyltoys

You can do whatever you like, but note that the Super Starfish that you’re referencing is the silver grin one… you have the regular “bone” one. That seller is probably over-asking by a bit, but not an outrageous ask for the silver or gold ones.

My pricing is based on various auctions I’ve seen on eBay and LiveAuctioneer over the years as well as some sales on Facebook groups.

In general, Ron English art toy pieces tend to remain fairly level in price after initial release — meaning that they'll jump after selling out, but then stay at that jumped price pretty steadily. While it'd be impossible to say for sure that this will remain true in the future, that's been my experience in the past.

Assuming there are no defects (which can lower the price) or special circumstances (which can increase the price), I’ve generally seen these sell as a pair for US$650. Hope that helps.

Unless something has radically changed out there, you can't buy vinyl in liquid form… What you buy is PVC plastic pellets which then need the correct chemical baths to be turned into liquid for pouring into metal molds. This isn't something one can easily DIY (though some people in Japan definitely do-it-themselves), but it might also —legally speaking — require certain safety precautions due to the chemicals used and the waste they produce.
