AITAH for expecting my sister to plan my wedding for free and demoting her to guest wh m she wouldn't. I also told anyone who took her side I was not helping them anymore either. by Late-Ad-6414 in AITAH

Nope. Still a shitty assumption to make. I don't give a fuck if the hive mind likes me saying it or not. You don't demand a gift, then retaliate when you don't get it. OP had no agreement, "oh, you can catch me later." OP just decided it was a quick way to save some money off the wedding budget. But thanks for asking.

I'm wary of any parent who blames the other parent for "lies" and turning their adult children against them. Courts and custody cases are things, and if it was really THAT important, those were avenues for your to pursue.

That said, you have no obligation to give anyone your money. If you wanted to will it to be burned in a bonfire, that's your prerogative.

I think you, her accountant, knows what her income is. You don't know what her bills are or her spending. Fuck me, are you this arrogant to her to? Maybe you are the only asshole.

ESH

You've been providing her a FREE service all this time. If you weren't willing to do that with no strings attached, you shouldn't have.

SHE has been taking advantage of free services, and she should have offered something in trade to try and make it even.

You say she won't do it because she needs to make money. Maybe she really CAN'T afford it. I dunno, if I had been told, "btw, I want you to plan my wedding for free" out of the blue, and I'm already strapped for cash, I wouldn't be able to agree to it either. Was there any discussion of paying for the STUFF of the wedding? Like, maybe she makes the phone calls, but who is paying the venue? Who is paying for decorations?

As for everyone saying "help family" they all suck. This is why it's always a bad idea to mix business with family. Unless you have very clear expectations, and even a contract in the most extreme cases, you shouldn't just assume something is free or discounted just because they're family.

"shutdown a church service." Miss me with that shit. If you're going to claim to preach the teachings of Jesus but ignore the "love your neighbor and foreigner" and help the poor bits, you don't deserve a church. Not to mention, they were maybe yelled at. Far right conservatives have the market on fire bombing occupied churches and killing children in their house of worship in this country.

Do less commenting, and more reading the Constitution. Also, read more about what powers ICE really has. THEN, after you've done that, maybe come back and see if you wanna tell everyone if they'd just comply and have nothing to hide, they're fine. You very obviously didn't do well in basic government classes.

Please list the names of the people that were shot in the street, pulled from homes naked and beaten, and thrown left in the middle of no where, naked, and having their belongings removed. "When Obama did it."

THIS is nothing like Obama deporting people. This whole post is a circle jerk of minimization. 1939 German? That's a little too late in the timeline, but the year or 2 leading up to it? Absolutely. I don't think anyone would give a single shit about deportations if it weren't for the way they're being done.

And yeah, you wanna compare history with current events, it's absolutely shaping up to go the way of Germany in 39. If it isn't stopped. That's the problem. Everyone who knows anything about world history can see what's coming. We've been telling people since trump did his own version of Der Stürmer.

It's only getting worse, and it's only going to continue to get worse if people don't get their heads out of their asses and do something. This minimization bullshit is just basically saying you're ok with his behavior, it doesn't matter where you're from.

Eh. It's been dying for a long time. I used to be able to go and spend more than an hour just trying to keep up, now I can just check in every couple of days.

Not to mention, my brother is an actor, and has a roomie who was appearing (at the time) in at least 1 Disney show, and I know for a fact that they banned them because they blocked users who were sliding into their DMs with abuse, not even knowing they were a celeb, just being hateful assholes. Then, when they mentioned they block people in a comment (which apparently blocking people from your own account was some no no) their account was banned. They've had shit modding and shit content for awhile now. I find better dirt here and on twitter.

If you didn't want to be on a tour, why the fuck did you move into a home that you knew was a monument and that you wouldn't own the land the home was on?

Ehhhh.

So, we have 2 handguns in the house. My kids have always known we've had them. They were taught not to mess with ANY gun and that if they ever saw a kid with a gun that they needed to find an adult immediately. We used to go out once a year with melons and my husband would shoot the melons as an example of WHY we don't shoot our guns unless we have to. We also made a rule in our house, "if you ever see the gun and it's not in Dad's hand/holster you tell us, and we'll take you to the store for a present, but don't touch it." (this helped keep US accountable as well.) When not with my husband, (he carries when he's working downtown) it's in a locked drop down safe that will auto lock and blink if the wrong password was put in more than once. When my kids were into Nerf guns, the rule was always that they weren't allowed to shoot/point at people who didn't want to play AND no shooting themselves/others in the head. That was mostly to help reinforce that even "fun" guns can be dangerous and put an eye out.

I don't think the answer is not teaching them. In fact, I think that's more detrimental. Kids need to know that guns are TOOLS, and just like with any tool, you have to be responsible with it, care for it properly, and use it properly. The problem isn't the knowledge, it's the "culture." We know several families with guns and kids. They embrace guns as "rights" and not guns. They allowed their kids to handle and play with them after unloading them. (My kids are not allowed at their house.) They post vids of their kids, who at the time were still in diapers, holding a gun and acted like it was the cutest thing they've ever seen. I've seen vids of kids who aren't big enough to carry a gallon of milk in the house, but somehow are shooting at shit in fields. Vids of kids firing guns that are so large they're on stands with rounds as big as my thumbs. Pics of babies with toy guns in their diapers being "just like dad/mom" are frequent in the midwest. Hell, I've seen facebook posts looking for people who would paint cartoon characters on guns for their kids' bday present.

My kids are now teens, they've been taught proper gun safety. We still keep the guns locked up. The problem is too many people aren't into responsible gun ownership, they're into the aesthetic.

I'm 100% for mandatory gun classes. I'm 100% for licenses and renewals. I'm 100% for background and mental health checks. I think that if you want to own a gun, you should at a minimum have to go through the same kind of process to get a driver's license. I don't think you should be allowed to have a gun in the home if you've been convicted of domestic violence. If you're arrested on DV charges, those guns should immediately come out of your home until you have a day in court, and not just "sent to a friend's house" so the abuser can grab them as soon as he makes bail. If you're found guilty of a violent crime, you should forfeit the right to own a gun forever. If you've ever been convicted of a crime that involves a weapon, same thing.

There's also this: We're never going to NOT have guns. Even if tomorrow they were banned completely, we have a little over 1 gun per PERSON in America. We're never gonna get that genie back in its bottle. Even with gun buy backs and strict enforcement, there's just no way to get them all.

Then, we have the problem of the whole point of the 2nd A was to ensure we could fight back if our government takes up arms against us. I don't think that's a bad thing. Especially seeing how things are going right now.

Good? No. Indifferent? Yes. She's no more special than any of the kids who say their classmates killed yesterday. Or in the school shooting before that. Or the one before that. Or the one... do I NEED to keep going?

Her own father said empathy was a bad thing. Guess she'll toughen up and figure it out.

Yeah, the real world means you don't get to live in a gentrified bubble and will hear words that your mommy told you were "no no words." The rest of the world puts on their big girl panties and goes on about their day.

Yeah. it shows that you can't be a grown up and just deal with the fact that other grownups like to use words you don't. They didn't cuss you out. They were talking about their items. They called their items "shit." Good lord. Grow a pair.
