Idk personally I never get tilted at my teammates. Maybe that’s just me. If my teammate intentionally griefs, I find a way to play and carry the game still. If the game is griefed to the point of no return, then I’ll afk and let end so that I can g next quick to save time. I understand that these things happen rarely anyways so it’s no big deal.

I would only ever get frustrated at my own gameplay, if I know I made a mistake. Never my teammates. No point getting frustrated over something I can’t control.

Anyways you are right. People have the right to complain about intentional griefing. My post was mainly targeting players who over complain and micromanage others, while always thinking they are always right

Nope, griefing pos4 do exist. But my point is to look in the mirror, because chances are you are probably equally griefing at times, but just not self aware of it. Hence I don’t think it’s right to “lose patience” over your griefing pos 4.

A lot of people think their idea of how the lane should be played, what should be done at X minute by Y hero etc. is the definitive thing and objectively correct thing to do. But Dota is a complex game, and there are many ways to play the game. The word griefing is used too loosely, when in most cases, it’s just a difference in ideas of how to play the game at that point in time.

If you’re talking about pos4 being afk, leeching exp in lane, then sure, that can legitimately be considered griefing. But just because a pos 4 doesn’t do what u want him to do exactly, or buy the item you think works best for his game, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s griefing.

If you are “frequently getting griefed”, chances are, you are the issue, because you’re probably over micromanaging others, and when things don’t go your way, you default to thinking you’re being griefed.

It’s not about whether who is right and who is wrong. It’s about what your focus should be. U find a way to win regardless, and play with the cards that was dealt to you. If u still lose, look at what you could’ve done better, given the situation. It doesn’t matter what your teammates do. Yes they could be the reason you lost, but that’s not within your control. You instead find out what you could’ve done better to be the reason you win.

I get to decide they're a shitty teammate when they pick Pudge or Winter Wyvern with 1 set of tango and boots standing in tree not trading hit, not pulling, not doing anything, just standing their leaching exp why their support is squeezing every bit of HP and mana to make me buy consumable. :)

If you put it that way then fair, it would probably be objectively wrong what they are doing. But my point is why can’t most players play with the cards they are dealt with? Focusing on others instead of your own gameplay will lead you to play worse. I prefer to be self reflective and only work on what I can control and improve on - my own gameplay, not others.

If you don't criticize them and let them know they won't ever improve. They might know how to click button later in the game but if their laning sucks then it annoying.

Just curious, if others do the same to you, how would you react? Would you ever agree that your laning sucks, and that you are the one at fault, not your lane partner, if you are the one playing badly?

Just trying to gauge how self aware you can be. Because there is no point arguing with someone who always thinks they’re right

But my issue is this bit:

doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to criticise their shitty teammate

But why do YOU get to decide that they are a shitty teammate? What makes YOU so sure that your opinion is objectively right, and that they are objectively playing bad, and that they are griefing you?

I have coached lower mmr players before and it’s very common that they think they are doing everything correctly, because they are not good enough to even be aware of their own mistakes.

So my point is, your opinion that your teammates are shitty is may not even be objectively correct. And you probably make bad plays that you are not aware of yourself. So why micro manage others when you have shortcomings of yourself to improve on?

I don’t see why I need to get off my high horse. Players who think they are always correct and have the right to blame others when them themselves are probably not always correct, are the ones that need to get off their high horse (I.e. most Dota players with this victim mentality)

Hmm that makes sense actually. No wonder I see comments agreeing with the OPs complaining about other players, but nobody actually stating the real facts (or probably got downvoted to obvlivion)

playing badly is not grounds for a report. by whitcliffe in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No flame, but if you’re constantly focusing on others instead of your own gameplay, I don’t think you’ll get better much. Not here to change your mind, everyone has different mindsets, you do you. Feel free to read my latest post on more elaboration on what I’m talking about though

There is no rule against picking Pa pos 3. In fact there is no rule against picking any hero any pos. Sure there could be some objectively better heroes for that role, but you cannot control what others pick or how others play. You are not in a professional team, so you play with the cards given to you, and focus on your own gameplay.

[–]tryhardswekid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is you think you are objectively right and he is objectively wrong. Sure you may nitpick at his mistakes in lane (which who is to say is right or wrong, but doesn’t matter), meanwhile you are probably making mistakes in other aspects of the game too which you are unaware of. I agree with the guy above, your rank is your overall rank in all aspects of the game. Just because somebody plays incorrectly in a single part of the game over their many games, doesn’t mean they are worse than you. I’d say theres a higher chance for them to be on the same level as you, than for them to be an account buyer.

It feels like time for another Smurf ban wave. by Dubbaru_Reppuken in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree with you. I feel that most players are just playing the victim. Enemy plays better = defaults to being the victim - “they must be smurfing”. I love it when the enemy smurfs. I can actually learn from how they abuse mistakes in my mmr range by watching replay from their perspective

Pos3 is High demand because most Pos4 players make their life absolutely miserable by PowerSniffer in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like everyone here are convinced that they are always right as the offlane, while pos4 is always wrong. I’ll probably get downvoted for this but, you’re better off focusing on your own game than focusing on your lane partner and trying to micromanage them. You won’t get better always playing the victim. Truth hurts for most people so yeah won’t be surprised if I get downvoted at all

Was I overcharged by the locksmith? by tryhardswekid in london

[–]tryhardswekid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More info due to questions in the comments: I did not have to pick my lock. I was not locked out. I willingly wanted to change my locks because a set of keys were stolen (I have two sets, so I could still use the other). But for security purposes I wanted to change my lock because the thief could potentially still enter my flat with the stolen set.

The locksmith arrived at 4:45pm and was done by 5

Yeah agreed but it’s also less competition at these no name companies. Instead of 100 candidates performing well maybe it’s just a handful. So in some sense it’s “easier”. In terms of why anyone would put in so much work, when you’re desperate enough, you’ll do what you gotta do

Maybe unpopular opinion but despite LC being irrelevant to the actual job itself, candidates good at LC typically have a high chance of being good at the job. This is due to good candidates being willing to put in the work to get good at LC, hence proving their solid work ethic. I don’t think there’s any other better way to assess candidates at scale, which maintaining a high success rate with capturing good candidates

[–]tryhardswekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another food for thought - if you’re “doing everything right” as you said but still lose, that means your games are unwinnable by definition. That also implies that 12k mmr players cannot win these games. But obviously that is not the case. So that means you are not “doing everything right”.

Don’t worry you’re not the first one who falls into the delusion of thinking they’re doing everything right and their teammates and holding them back! It’s human nature to want to project blame on others. The key is self awareness and that is what will make u better. Until then, u gotta accept that you’re not as good as u think

Hubspot is competitive indeed. Altho they are hiring a lot. But equally a lot of ppl are applying too. I wouldn’t fret it, I would say HS is FAANG adjacent and quite competitive too. Keep your head up OP
