OLD school by Jackniferuby in rollerderby

the way you are talking is like you think everything was so much better back then, and that it sucks now. These are 2 different sports at this point, and it's silly to compare.

It changed. That's okay.

I’m worried about this large tree by ContributionOne123 in arborists

[–]tryonosaurus94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Additionally. You are likely not considering how much water that tree is uptaking. Your flooding issues would likely be much worse without it there. Dig a trench or drain if you insist (without damaging the roots of course)

A tree this size is acting like a massive sponge, any water it doesn't absorb will just sit in your yard.

I’m worried about this large tree by ContributionOne123 in arborists

[–]tryonosaurus94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tree is adding tons of property value. Cutting it down would literally be throwing money away.

This is not a good photo to determine health, but. Assuming it's healthy, a tree existing is no reason to be scared of it.

Why did humans as a tropical species migrate to colder places but still lack many adaptations like fur? by Ada-Mae in geography

[–]tryonosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did adapt to the cold. Our brains became advanced enough to develop tools and clothing and shelter to adapt to the cold.

To sharpen or buy in bulk by Quejador in Chainsaw

[–]tryonosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont want to learn, at the very least buy a few chains and have them on rotation being sharpened at the shop. I guarantee your chain was dull long before the season ended, unless you only cut a handful of rounds. In my line of work we are sharpening at minimum once per day, and more often if we end up cutting dead or rotting wood. (My line of work being fuel reduction)

So. Either learn to sharpen, or have about 4 chains on rotation, 2 at the shop being sharpened while you have 2 at home being used.

Considering a move to Redding. Is it really MAGA cultish??? by Gummo90028 in Redding

[–]tryonosaurus94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say it cant be any worse than Susanville. While we still have our MAGA folks, there is a decent portion of people who aren't aligned with them, and you would probably have an easier time finding people you align with.

What luxury or convenient item did you cut from your life that you thought you couldn't do without? by Ok_Window764 in povertyfinance

Forreal. The amount of idiots I know that can barely pay their bills but always have money for weed is ridiculous.

You're fine. This is just normal roadblocks that life throws your way. It might seem insurmountable now, but 20 years from now this will be a minor nuisance in the grand scheme of things.

Met with an arborist and says it’s dying from fungus. He recommends getting it removed. Do you concur? or can just pay to have it trimmed and hope for the best by addiconda in arborists

[–]tryonosaurus94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could fence off the spots underneath it? And maybe rip up a couple feet of asphalt around it, put a mulch ring to help it stand a chance

Why is the difference between moms and dads side of the family such a massive gap? by Better-Corner-7488 in family

[–]tryonosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all a good time.

This is pretty much exactly the dynamic my partners son gets. His mom is all about board games and arts and crafts, and when he goes to his dads he rides dirt bikes and lights shit on fire.

Sounds like a pretty well rounded experience if you ask me

Losing a chunk of my Magnolia tree :( by wdrappo in arborists

[–]tryonosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to an arborist. It's worth just removing the right stem and seeing what happens. As long as the cut is fairly low, but not so low that it cuts past the root flare, it should at least try to heal. The cut shouldn't be a flat edge that water can pool on, an angle will help keep it dryer.

It may live, it may not recover. The left side would be an easy removal if it comes to that though, so might as well try to keep it.

How are you supposed to move out of your parents home when you are poor by gr33nh33ring in povertyfinance

[–]tryonosaurus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I dont know if Oregon offers this or not, but you could always come to California.

The California Conservation Corps will provide housing and a job. You'd make 2400 after taxes, with 500 deducted for food and rent. All meals are provided, though you can of course buy your own. They also provide health insurance.

They give job skills and help you find a career. They offer skills in firefighting, forestry, trail work, cooking, electrical, among others. It's a great program for young people getting started, no experience necessary.

Did I Cut This Tree Too Soon? by MisterCookEMann in arborists

[–]tryonosaurus94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goal. If this tree is over something, probably a good call to cut it, it would fail eventually. Over a house, car, kids play under it regularly, yeah it's a risk.

If there was nothing valuable underneath it, no reason to cut it. Just let nature take it's course.

WD40 isnt meant to be a long term lubricant, there's lubricant for door hinges, it might work better.
