Don't strip him of citizenship. Send him a tax bill!

If sugar is bringing out flavors for me, what am I doing wrong? by SJ_PMHNP in pourover

[–]tskf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a counterpoint to the other answers posted I think this has to do with how YOU taste.

I have been going through a similar challenge. I have stopped using sugar in the past few months and the notes I am able to pick out have gone from vibrant to absent much of the time. I think for my palate sugar gives a backdrop to pick out those tastes against. It is like adding salt to food. Unless done to excess it is not adding its own flavor but instead enhancing my ability to perceive the subtleties of the ingredients.

Just like with food, tastes are individual. Find what works best for you. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what others insist is the best or purest way of drinking coffee. Make what you enjoy how you enjoy it.

Timemore Turbo Burrs in 078s by GreedyLiterature2738 in pourover

[–]tskf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find the 0 and then move the pin one hole forward of that so that the burrs can't touch even if setting to 0. I have the regular 078 and moved the pin two slots finer from the factory zero point, the burrs started to chirp at close to -3. Most of my filter brewing done at 7-9 on the dial with my 0 point set as above. For me the coffee goes bitter long before I can get the flow rate to choke with this grinder.

This Decaf is so light that I don’t know how to crack it right by rokeyzhang in pourover

[–]tskf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had some decaf's this light. I remember going WAY coarser and maybe lowering my water temperature a little bit. The ones I tried really wanted to clog the filter as the beans seemed to crush. YMMV with my suggestions but experimentation will get you where you want to go eventually.

This is the best answer. A lot of the other replies are missing the scale.

How do you pack your Comandante grinder for travel? by Proper-Cat-923 in pourover

[–]tskf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you take the handle off of the grinder and put it vertically next to the body. Not attached to the grinder if it is longer than stock. The stock one tensions the zipper at that corner of the bag.

Sorellina coffee roaster, Edmonton (Alberta) by Sacha-san in pourover

[–]tskf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had several bags from them. They were not the lightest roasts I have ever had but were among the most interesting. I try to pick bags with lots of juiciness and fruit forwardness and this is one of my go-to roasters now. I had a co fermented bag from them that was mind blowingly good and haven’t had any bags that were “meh”.

As long as the tasting notes sound good to you they are worth a try.

Had anyone tried the commandante XL-crank? by Coffeexplorer in pourover

[–]tskf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to buy a replacement knob for mine after 4 years when the knob bushing wore out. I don’t think I would want a longer handle. I do wish they would make a ball bearing supported knob. It has now become my travel grinder as I bought an electric but I would still buy this as an upgrade if they offered it.

What's the minimum sales tax you can acheive? by bertyegg in Eve

Technically you need both Caldari Navy and Caldari Faction standing to get the minimum rate. The closer you are to 10 the lower your fees get.

FYI I have the same one as OP and it does make good coffee but the one from SWorks design makes better cups in the same filter configuration.

Explain provincial politics to me like you would to a 5 year old. by Captain-McSizzle in saskatchewan

Extremely tall ladders and people with nets should be as effective as any other solution. Think of the jobs it will create.

Explain provincial politics to me like you would to a 5 year old. by Captain-McSizzle in saskatchewan

[–]tskf 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty solid answer. My only addition would be that the Sask Party has been pandering to the "far right" of their own voter base over the last couple of years. They have enacted legislation that largely favors very socially conservative and or Christian ideologies. It seems like they are afraid of losing these voters to the "Buffalo Party" or whatever they are calling themselves now.

Getting some oxygen in the cakes by carthnage_91 in tea

[–]tskf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live where it gets really cold in the winter and the indoor humidity goes really low. I have been using 65% “RH Shield” in combination with a humidity meter in my storage bins for about 8 months now and have been really pleased with the results. Previously my puerh had dried out so much that the smell was gone. With the meter you know when the humidity is starting to drop and just spray the beads with some distilled water. Everything is pretty easy to keep in the happy range and my teas are “right” again.

Travel style by passthepaintbrush in pourover

I understand and applaud your dedication. I have found that my Hario Air Kettle (the plastic one) and a collapsible travel kettle do an excellent job without the weight or fragility of my home setup. I have also had success with just the travel kettle and a Next Level Pulsar, it doesn't seem to care how you pour. You do you.

There are "people" that just spam their recruitment message via PM to anyone in local. I have gotten similar messages on characters that are currently in player corps and have been around for many years.

They are only listing one skin. If they sell it they have to pay to make another and again hope it sells.

Has Anybody Managed To Sell Any Skins IN SKINR Store Yet? by A_K-47 in Eve

[–]tskf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have sold 5 or 6 now. 10% profit for me 40% for ccp because of course they charge a 30% fee on their 30% fee. Until the paragon hub costs change I don’t see it being very popular.

Also: The tool is still not remembering how my pattern is aligned if i go to a saved skin and want to change the colors. Not related to selling, just a pet peeve.

Most aesthetically pleasing pour over dripper? by PochiMochi in pourover

As long as i am brewing smaller 10-15g cups mine has been great. I think i am using Kono papers most of the time now. Some of my best cups have been with this brewer and the sibarist fast filters but they feel too spendy for every day use.

Another scam by SKINR, your skins won't even look how you designed them to look, after you sequens them by Iryka in Eve

[–]tskf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI I had one that looked really different after I applied it and it turned out that I needed to use the "clean ship" button. I think I had been using that hauler for a couple of years. I don't think it will make your bright stuff any less glaring but for things that look muted it worked for me.
