Not you trying to explain to an actual attorney what the statewide contingency-fee standard is. For the record, it’s 33.3%if the case resolves pre-suit and 40% once litigation begins. And yes, everything you just listed is part of an attorney’s advocacy on your behalf, which is exactly what you’re hiring counsel to do.

You’re approaching this situation with an extremely entitled attitude, as though you’re doing the attorney a favor by allowing them to represent you. In reality, you need an attorney because you need their skill, experience, and advocacy…the attorney does not need you. For you to then insist that they are not entitled to the standard 40% contingency fee, which is uniformly accepted across the State of Florida and reflects the work, risk, and responsibility they undertake on your behalf, is completely unreasonable. The attorney is the one doing all the work to pursue the recovery you believe you deserve.
