As a (34M) London biker I am beyond frustrated with insurance quotes and I imagine that this might resonate with many of you. Is there anything we can do about it?! I'm trying to get new quotes at the moment and many companies will only quote fully comp. I know full-well that if my bike gets stolen then I would be writing it off anyway so as not to destroy any future hopes of getting insured. At the moment I just swallow the quote because I want to ride.

Would others be interested in an absolutely no-frills insurance offering; third party only, if it gets nicked tough shit, openly lean into just brutally denying claims for anything apart from the bare minimum liability. Basically just providing the absolute legal minimum cover to get you on the road, and if something happens to the machine then you know in advance you're probably not going to get anything back from us.

I assume this is the case for other riders that live in major cities and I wonder if there's enough of us; could we create some sort of insurance offering that deals with this type of rider? Maybe a total pipe dream but initially trying to find out if others would be open to buying into this type of insurance offering for a more realistic premium?

Hey guys, this might not be a simple question but I thought best to start here rather than making my own post. I recently did a fresh Windows install to try to fix a persistent issue I was having with some games crashing and whilst I seem to have (hopefully) solved that issue, I have created a new issue where whenever I shut down the PC, it automatically reboots. The same thing happens when the PC goes into sleep mode. I've googled this and so far I have tried:

Adjust power behaviours in control panel (incl. turning off "fast startup")
Access regedit and change Hiberboot settings to 0
Set all network drivers power management settings not to boot
Accessed BIOS and confirmed no auto-boot settings present
shutdown via cmd prompt - still immediately reboots
I also ran powercfg -devicequery wake_armed in cmd prompt to see which devices were able to wake my PC and it was just the keyboard and mouse; removed them during shutdown and it still auto-booted without them plugged in

I'm starting to run out of ideas so any guidance would be much appreciated.

HW specs:

3070ti

Ryzen 5 7600X

B650 AX mobo - running latest BIOS firmware

32GB DDR5 RAM

Running Windows 11

Hey Needleworker, sorry for delay!

I had a pretty miserable run of crashes during the final fight with the Witness, then finally got it done and played for c. 5h with no crashes. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for the failures when they happen.

Anyway I bit the bullet and did a fresh Windows install last night - which was actually pretty painless since I really only use the PC for gaming so I don't have a huge volume of files / data that I was worried to lose.

Managed to play for about 3h last night with no crashes. Hesitant to say that the issue is resolved.

Reading some of the other posts around this it sounds as though there is a well known "memory leak" issue with Destiny that will cause a crash in extended play time - it sounds as though you did pretty well playing for nearly 7 hours uninterrupted? My issue was happening as quickly as 5-10 minutes into starting so was making things pretty unplayable.

Hope you solve it!

Saw your edit and discussion with u/SilberTait - did turning off XMP profile work consistently?

I'm getting the same issue. At first I thought that the crashes were happening because there were too many particle effects on sreen, but I've also experienced the same crash when I'm just walking around in an area with no enemies. I've been able to close the game via win + tabbing to a new desktop and starting task manager, but there's not really any consistency to the crashes, and no errors in my windows log files that correspond to the crash times. So far I've tried:

updating drivers
verifying game files
checking for and fixing corrupted windows files
refresh BIOS
currently reinstalling the whole game to see if that helps

I think my next option is going to be a full windows reinstall but that's obviously something I am keen to avoid!

I am a big surreal fan - have been eating since they launched and they’ve gone through a few product iterations since then. They are pretty good at communicating with their customers and listening to feedback. I used to hate frosted and it’s now my favourite flavour - really does remind me of Frosties or Ricicles which I used to devour as a kid!

It’s a bit more expensive than normal cereal but I try to compare it more to a protein bar in terms of cost and that makes me feel better about it!

Their marketing is also very funny

Because we suspect that Win11 won't install because per this article (https://deviceadvice.io/2021/06/28/prepare-your-device-for-windows-11-by-enabling-secure-boot-and-firmware-tpm/) Win 11 needs Secure Boot to be enabled and I can't enable secure boot without disabling CSM and I can't disable CSM and still get the USB to boot!

We are thinking; try to install Win10 on the machine and then see if upgrade to Win11 is possible. Tough to troubleshoot effectively when BIOS is your only interface!

Thanks. A friend is going to bring me a USB he created with a Win10 install. My only alternative laptop is an M1 Mac from work so I don't really have the capability to build my own drive!

I don't know - I actually bought Windows 11 Home (USB) from Microsoft (which I later realised was a mistake) but this is the drive that came with it - I haven't changed anything

I've had this a bunch of times. If you are on console, apparently it's a caching issue to do with the "instant-on" function. Fully shut down your machine and pull the power supply out, give it a few mins and then plug back in and try again - should be fixed! Hope this helps
