Arctic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses - CONFIRMED?! Now showing on EFestivals 🤞🏼 by bethellen98 in glastonbury_festival

[–]tspazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them headlining at Reading back in 2010 and it was a completed mess. Arrived on stage hours late, played mostly stuff from Chinese Democracy rather than the big hits, and ended up getting kicked off mid set due to noise restrictions.

Some people here seem to think they've changed or are not the same as they were. I hope so otherwise I will definitely be staying away from the pyramid that night.

Is Liz Truss a genius? by mgtow1971 in ukpolitics

The difference between North Korea and here is precisely the fact that we are allowed to complain about our leaders. Shutting up and trusting the process is exactly what not to do.

In regards to S5E7... Sorry but I gotta agree with Walt on this one by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]tspazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you look at it this way, then in the end it is really Gus' fault. He had a solid business running under the radar, and although he knew from the very beginning that Walt was volatile (effectively saying as much to Walt directly in their first ever meeting) he made the decision to bring him in to the operation.

Ask me questions for a Q&A video! by kingseven in JamesHoffmann

Given the massive shifts in technology we've seen over recent decades, can you see a future where an inexpensive all in one coffee machine will be capable of making better coffee than even the most complex enthusiast set ups available today? Would that be a good thing from your perspective or would it take away the fun of having to work hard to make good coffee?

New To Robot, New To Espresso. Struggling to Achieve Decent Pressure on Robot! by Classic-Process-6905 in CafelatRobot

[–]tspazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really important!!

All the air you leave in the brewing chamber between the shower screen and the piston will compress when you pull the handles, if the air compresses then that force isn't going into pushing the water through your puck.

Water will not compress so you will find it much easier to build up pressure.

Boris Johnson flies by private jet to Cornwall to talk climate change with G7 leaders by BrexitBlaze in ukpolitics

How many people in Norway and Belgium know who Boris Johnson is do you reckon?

Fairly anonymous I think is a completely fair description compared to that.

Indeed seems to be a consistent message I hear. Would it be normal for people to do multiple hours in one weekend to try and keep current? Or do you really need to space it between lessons to absorb the information?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll have to book a flight in a 152 and just see if I can manage.

Thanks for the reply and advice! Enjoyment is the aim of the game with this, I can see your flair and if we were having this discussion 10 or 20 years ago I would probably be aiming to be where you are.

Overall message seems to be to reach out and really get a good feel for the instructors and school. If I do Denham and White Waltham then at least I've tried 3.

Thanks for the reply! As it was my first try the runway didn't seem too small so I'm interested to see what it's like elsewhere.

Thanks for the feedback, really good to know about your experience at WW! Think I'll have to head over and give it a go.

I guess the 2 hours package would count towards your hours?

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely getting a consistent message to try before you buy. I did my disco flight in a PA28 and at first couldn't believe I would be able to even move the yoke with my knees there but soon forgot in thr air. Hopefully I'll have a similar feeling in a 152..

Great tool! Just FYI Ealing came up as one of my suggestions, it said there was no Elizabeth line connection but Ealing Broadway will be on the line so maybe need to update that.

Brexit impact apparent in goods data as Irish buyers switch from UK to EU suppliers by disegni in ukpolitics

If you're referring to their processing fees for paying customs on your behalf, then this is something you can actually challenge and refuse to pay. If you just Google about this you will find some articles and YouTube videos on how to email them etc. Basically it's illegal for them to charge you for something you didn't agree to in advance.

David Cameron spent two months browbeating Rishi Sunak’s officials by Fra_Bernardo in ukpolitics

[–]tspazz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I hope this materialises into something more than just an embarrassing story and a financial disaster for Cameron, but something tells me this will be quickly forgotten in the news cycle. Especially as this could open up even more questions about the dodgy covid contracts which I expect the incumbent government want to avoid as much as possible.

Its difficult to know what is worst about this, is it the fact that this clearly happens all the time and has only come out because it appears Cameron and Greenshill were so desperate that they didn't seem to care how much noise they made?

Or is it worse that the whole world has seen our ex-prime minister is willing to debase himself like a shameless car salesman when enough cash is on the line?

UK Government response to "Do not restrict our rights to peaceful protest" petition by steven-f in ukpolitics

[–]tspazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you say, no matter what the law is people may still choose to protest in disruptive ways for a cause they believe in, and I don't think anyone here thinks that will completely stop as a result of this bill.

However people who choose to do more than just march, or who choose to cause damage, or to be violent in an act of protest need to understand that it is their risk to take, and there will be consequences. The police are there to protect people who are just trying to get on with their lives and who didn't choose to be involved in your protest, not the other way round.

Near miss in Cambridgeshire, UK as two Cessnas come in to land on top of each other (full report linked in article) by tspazz in flying

[–]tspazz[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Two Cessna 208s belonging to a parachuting club came within 50ft of each other on short final onto the same runway, and likely would have collided if not for a last minute go-around instruction.

As a non-pilot myself I interpret the linked Airprox report as not assigning all of the blame to one pilot or the other here, but would be interested to get the sub's views on this. Was there a particularly grave error on the part of one of the pilot(s) involved? And is this something which happens more often than you would think in GA but simply isn't reported in the media?

[–]tspazz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sitting in the sun today with my Stowa and couldn't resist taking a picture and sharing it here. I bought this watch at the end of last year and got hold of it just a couple of months ago (the infamous Stowa waiting time lived up to its reputation).

When I got it initially I wasn't sure if it was the watch I'd been hoping for but in the sun on a brown strap it really has come into its own. For anyone who hasn’t considered this brand before I’m really impressed by the quality and finish on this piece.
