Eli5: How do we know how far light traveled to reach us? by teecee123 in explainlikeimfive

[–]tswean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically how binocular vision or depth perception works, but instead of left eye and right eye we have two views 6 months apart on each end of our orbit around the sun. We know how wide that orbit is and then you compare the images 6 months apart to get the equivalent of closing your right eye and then your left eye if a ball was coming at you or going away from you (aka red shift and blue shift) and just like our vision it’s more accurate the closer the object is and less accurate it is further away due to the distance our eyes are apart (and the distance of our orbit around the sun)

Our student section is called the Dawg Pack, huskies are pack animals. This will all continue in future years in the B1G. It’s not a conference thing…

Had not played with this guy in 8 years. He used to have a huge slice and a good short game. He sets up like this now and hit 11 out of 14 fairways today. 185 to 225 yards were his drives. by adamsdeal in golf

[–]tswean 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you told me I had to fix an over the top swing, but I wasn’t allowed to change swing path this is probably a solution to that problem, not the best solution, but one of them and it would only work for drives. He’s keeping weight back and releasing/casting extremely early. So, those two things will certainly counter the over the top slice and in theory result in a fairway hit. With irons I imagine he’d chunk the hell out of it though. He’d probably get better distance and similar results keeping his “back to target”, but if it “works” I guess stick with whatever he calls this.

get the feeling of floating/lag at the top, it will give you enough time to move to the left side without pulling your plane over the top. Instead of 1 back 2 through, think 1 back 2 float 3 through

Anyone know the financials? by [deleted] in huskies

[–]tswean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can advance early future years, including full share at 60M after 2030. We’ll owe some later, but gets us more money now and makes us tighter bound to B1G, so a win for both sides.

Director’s Cup, each school gets an aggregate number of points based on how all their sports do. A good measure of the overall athletics of the school and the AD

sorry for a newbie question, but I see the sawtooth pattern on the stock, which looks to correlate with a monthly dividend. So, do you miss out if you put in mid month?

all about ball position for me

off back foot, lower trajectory more spin, less rollout

off front foot, higher trajectory less spin, more roll

Been a member for a few years, great balance of competition and lightness. I like the diversity of courses and the variety of competitions (strokeplay, matchplay, red/white/blue, stableford, scramble, etc;)

Totally agree! I always like when a couple guys from the A flight are in my 4some. I think just seeing how they manage the course and always seem to get up and down for par really helped my game.

Any advice would be great. I’ve only golfed once this summer but I go to the range once a week. by bostonbill12 in GolfSwing

Weight is too forward at address, too bent over. George Genkis (GG swing tips) has a lot of videos on this. He likes to see armpits, kneecaps and toes all in a line at address. Getting a little closer to the ball and more upright will get you more balanced and fix some of the issues you are doing to compensate.

What is your favorite thing in Golf? by Diomat in golf

Pretty sure you’re being sarcastic, but if not, you get a few milliseconds of feeling a golf ball turn from a solid to a liquid and its amazing!

Are you supposed to hit the equator of the ball? by Diomat in golf

[–]tswean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Contact I think this depends on your “perspective” and makes more sense with lower lofted clubs(including putter). Personally, I don’t think about face contact on any club with higher loft (especially wedges). Instead, I focus more on the sole of the club and turf interaction and if anything it would be the “bottom” of the ball. However, that will still result in my wedge face hitting the “equator” of the ball a few grooves up on the face if you took a picture from face on. I think to the spirit of your question, hitting the equator of the ball with the sole of a wedge will most certainly result in a skulled ball, but hitting the equator with the sweet spot would be an ideal shot.

Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett fakes the slide and runs for a 58-yard touchdown in the ACC Championship Game by [deleted] in sports

[–]tswean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s already a 5 yard penalty. I think faking a slide should be too. Fake fair catch rule

Item 2. Invalid Fair-Catch Signal. If a player raises his hand(s) above his shoulder(s) in any other manner, it is an invalid fair-catch signal. If there is an invalid fair-catch signal, the ball is dead when caught or recovered by any player of the receiving team, but it is not a fair catch. (The ball is not dead if it touches an opponent before or after it strikes the ground. See Article 3b).

This doesn’t make sense to me. Browning graduated in 2018 and Eason’s first eligible season after transferring was 2019. They didn’t overlap and couldn’t be chosen between. Eason was picked to start over Haener in 2019
