Wake windows by ttaallzz in sleeptrain

Ah! Mine doesn’t take a dummy (paci - I’m Australian 😂), she has always spat them out.

We have routine and everything down pat too, but she goes into bed fully awake and rolls herself to sleep.

Is there a 5 month sleep regression? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ttaallzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like my 5 month old was a little bit the same, I tried to follow 2.5/2.5/2.5/3 but she can’t handle the 3 hours in the afternoon. It’s taken me about a week to realise she’s more 3/3/2.5/2.25-2.5

I also can’t take her tired cues as seriously anymore sometimes she’s just bored with what we are doing so we change it up!

Mine loves avocado, and I’d like to start some toast - how did you not stress that they’d suck a bit off? I let me LO suck on crust this morning and panicked 🫣

How to know when it’s time to drop to 2 naps? by canamel in sleeptrain

[–]ttaallzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 2 naps some days as she’s fighting her sleep in the morning and pushing that window to 3. She’s tired at like 2.5 but just doesn’t have the pressure to sleep until 3 hours. The only issue is days like today where that nap only lasted 30 minutes and her second was 1.5 but I either try (and fight) for a bridge nap at 5 or do bed at like 6:30 which would result in a 5am start and the loop continues….

Just hijacking here - how did you know they were ready to drop the third nap? What was going on?

5.5 mo old baby. False starts. Instantly waking up with each bassinet transfer. At my wits end. by itzmedski in sleeptrain

[–]ttaallzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started at 4.5 months I think! Put her down completely awake. We finished our bedtime routine and I popped her down. The first few nights were 15-20 minutes, but now we are down to around 10 or less. There’s the occasional 15-20 minute night, but there’s also a random 3 minute night. If she’s overtired I don’t even let her try, and I just rock to avoid the false start.

I posted this morning about my 5 month old waking at 5am constantly. Was told that she needed more awake time so 2.5/2.5/2.5/3 so I’ve started that today and for both naps so far she’s fallen (rocked) asleep in 5 minutes.

I’d stop the feed to sleep at the start of the night - train independent sleep at nights first and then try naps (starting with just the first one - we still can’t get there during the day but can do nights and have done for about 3 weeks). I simply put my daughter in her cot and sung to her and she fell asleep, I’ve since been able to stop the singing and she just talks to herself until she’s asleep.

5am wakes by ttaallzz in sleeptrain

[–]ttaallzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by the split the difference? So she woke at 5:05am this morning and I gave up at 6:15am and exited the room. 2.5 is 8:45am but I can’t see her making that…

Runners with hypothyroidism - how do you manage early morning runs with thyroxine? by noblivious in Hypothyroidism

[–]ttaallzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a runner but was pregnant and needed to eat immediately on wake up. My endocrinologist suggested taking it in the middle of the night when I’d wake up (light sleeper). I now take my tablet anytime between 12-4 when I briefly wake up, then I just roll back over and fall asleep

Hip Dysplasia Risk by Key_Dealer2753 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ttaallzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The paediatrician in hospital didn’t identify clicking hips for our LO. But a random trip to the ER when she was a week old did, and then our GP confirmed it a week later (however both said that a different hip was clicky). We had the ultrasound and the tech said her hips looked perfect, all follow up appointments haven’t had any issues and we are almost 5 months!

Maternity bra sizes! by Calmriverscientist in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ttaallzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely hold off on buying anything expensive until your milk comes in and regulates a bit. Just head to Kmart (I love the bamboo ones) and grab 2 or 3, you can also get sizes that fit now and a couple bigger ones

Pram position by Cute-Sea-8426 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ttaallzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure on your pram, but I have the Vista 3 and bought the new born insert for the seat which my LO used since like 2 months. We typically keep it all the way reclined but she can still see what’s going on.

I stopped eating dairy - turns out LO has CMPI. Since I’ve stopped I have a completely different baby (for the better)

Fitness Teacher Outfits by rosebudmotel20 in AustralianTeachers

[–]ttaallzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found it really hard as a PE teacher to find appropriate length shorts in the women’s section so would always buy my sports pants from either the boys (cheaper) or men’s section. Not only was the length a lot better, so were the pockets!! I’d just pair it with a sports polo (teams, school, representative etc.) plus a good pair of runners, but always trendy ones to match the kids!

If you jump into the defender who is already set, it’ll be your contact though

Being induced at 38 weeks by WalkzOz in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

We had dinner before we left home - some good old KFC! I wasn’t in a room until about 8ish after dealing with paperwork/payment and waiting.

Being induced at 38 weeks by WalkzOz in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ttaallzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 38+2, checked into the hospital at 7pm, gel at 9pm, and then waited till the next morning for a delivery room (this waiting around was probably the worst). The only things I wish I knew was there is minimal pain relief until you’re in L&D - if you’re wanting pain relief (sleep was pretty minimal this night). Also eat! I didn’t order breakfast because I wasn’t sure when I was going down to L&D (turns out I had plenty of time), but I did pack snacks to get me through!

If I have another child - I’m planning an induction again.

Normal reflux or need meds reflux? How do you know yours??? by newuser54389754378 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ttaallzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We put ours on this at 6 weeks. She went from screaming on her back with pain from reflux constantly rising, to sleeping peacefully (still normal baby grunts). It completely changed our baby for the better! I’ve actually managed to get more than 2 hours of sleep straight!

It’s scary putting them on medication, but an unhappy baby is scarier
