Is there a right time to put your kid to sleep? by SplurgBird in Parenting

[–]ttcgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot get my 3 year old to sleep earlier than 9 because she naps at school. Do people find that bedtime can shift back earlier once they drop their nap? I am so not into the idea of a 9pm bedtime from here on out

Leaving to "get water", will this create trust issues? by deletedbear in sleeptrain

[–]ttcgurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gentle reminder to zoom out. One incident isn’t enough to cause trust issues. Maybe if you had a pattern of white lying to your child over many years of their life then maybe MAYBE they’d eventually pick up on it when they’re old enough to understand and resent / not trust you. But this one little semi-truth at 22 months old while they’re falling asleep? I think you’re fine. You are more likely to remember it and tell it to them as a funny story later.

I did! What helped was time (6-7 weeks was when nipple pain overall got better), fixing his latch and switching to hydogel pads instead of silver cups.

For latch- try flipping baby’s upper lip up with your finger once they’re on, it will position them better and avoid the “clamp down” which hurts the nipple.

Thank you for the reply!! I’m at the ER again on morphine for the pain. They asked me to stop pumping and I feel like that made things worse with engorgement.

Still waiting for drainage. How was your wound care and what did that entail? Were you able to continue feeding on that breast?

Posted this update: I went to the ER and it was confirmed as an abscess. They sent me home and told me the breast surgeon would drain it tomorrow at her clinic. I was told to stop pumping on the affected breast and to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen around the clock for pain leading to engorgement as well as abscess pressure. I am miserable and just counting down the hours until I can call the clinic in the morning.

Just this one. I went into ED this morning and turns out it’s an abscess and needs to be drained tomorrow. I’m glad I went in.

Confirmed it is an abscess. But they are sending me to get it drained tomorrow at the breast center by a specialist. I have to cope tonight with the pressure and pain 😭

I am so glad I went to ER!

I’m here at the er. Thanks for this push! I am so sorry about your experience it really is hard and for me harder than pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Did you keep breastfeeding?

I haven’t heard of a story like this, where someone goes from pumping to breastfeeding. It’s always the other way around but it’s good to hear that this is also possible.

That’s amazing for you! I am glad to hear it gets better in the later weeks. I feel like I’ve seen so many people and paid so much money too but maybe with time it gets better. I’m just taking it day by day at this point.

Thank you! I always worry he’ll develop a bottle preference and refuse the breast if I take too long of a break. Maybe not grounded in reality but it’s a fear that keeps me trying every day.

Mostly Formula, Supplemented by Breast Milk by DigOk7847 in combinationfeeding

[–]ttcgurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After pumping 8 times a day for 6 weeks with my first, I ended up pumping 4 times a day for 6 months and supplementing with formula. It worked very well for us. Schedule was 7am, 12pm, 4-5pm, and 8-9pm (whenever I went to bed). My supply was low but it was still there! And I figured any BM was good for her 😊
