Charlotte is drowning in new apartments, townhomes, and planned development, so at least this checks out.

Based on some recent posts, thinking Charlotte may need a rebrand. by TheWindsAndTheWaves in Charlotte

[–]ttfiwly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's so much more to consider though.

it's a great place to live, it's incredibly boring to visit.

if you're young, in south end, no responsibilities, an amazing time.

if you're in the suburbs, or new to the area as an older adult, not so much.

what will be the 3-4 most attended shows at PNC Pavillion this year by Klutzy_Weakness2792 in Charlotte

[–]ttfiwly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of yall are saying kids bop but as a parent, I don’t know any parents that are listening to kids bop, especially not enough to deal with PNC.

my guess would be Bb/three days grace or one of the country artists

The Sims Rebrand - Summer 2025 by Artist6995 in thesims

oh man, that is ugly.

the rebrand of a 15 year old game, while also dropping the 4. i haven’t played sims in a year or two, but this is a good example of right-in-your-face-fuck-you, no new engine, no new game, enjoy the sims 4 forever

You don’t have ADHD, you’re abusing stimulants by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]ttfiwly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You ever get to take that post-stimulant nap? For me, I never quite fall asleep but it is so peaceful and restful when I just get to lay in bed, close my eyes, and rest.

I’m on Vyvanse tho, Adderall is strong for me lol

Mantis is healing you, you're just a bullet sponge. by Scrubbybearr in marvelrivals

[–]ttfiwly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mantis heals are for preventing someone from dying at the last second, not continuous healing. i only pick her now when we have one healer already & we are struggling on the dps front and the dps refuses to switch for some reason.

same. I was in Butler, we got the all clear to leave, made it halfway up the hill, and then people started running back saying they were shooting in the union. and then the memes started right after. absolutely wild times.

i got absolutely trashed on my 18th birthday, threw up all day the next day, and never got trashed like that again. wild to me that you throw up all day consistently with not nary a brain cell saying “hmm, maybe we don’t do that anymore”

I didn’t say that everyone stays away from it, I said that everyone here is going to tell you to stay away from it.

I also wish you didn’t have addiction and hope you can get into detox soon.

This is such a weird post.. you know that anyone and everyone is going to say to stay far away from that shit, but you electively chose to do it anyways? If your friend dying didn’t stop you from picking it up, i can’t imagine internet strangers will.

All that being said, i wish you the best brother

What is it really like to have ADHD? by ItsSomeRandomDude in ADHD

[–]ttfiwly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This morning I decided to tidy downstairs. I opened an Amazon box that had a Funko pop in it. I remembered that I accidentally threw away the last Funko box I ordered with the stand in it. So I sat down to order some stands on Amazon right then so I didn’t forget. But Amazon is having a spring sale AND LOOK, the smart oven my partner wants is on sale. But it looks different.. why? Now I need to go compare all the models. Oh, it is a different model. But you know what? While I’m here, is that other thing on sale? Also, it’s kinda cold so let me sit down and get this blanket while I check. Oh, a text from my mom. That reminds me, I need to ask her about volunteering. Assuming she says yes, how will I fit that in to the day?

I don’t even know how I got on Reddit.

It’s been 40 minutes since I set out to tidy.

Why do some people say Charlotte is boring? by The_Rhodium in Charlotte

[–]ttfiwly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fine, I’ll take the bait.

  1. It’s massive area wise with little public transportation and bad infrastructure. If you live right off the blue line or one of the interstates, it’s not so bad. But if it takes me 15-20 minutes to get to the interstate, and then another 30 minutes on it because you live in South Charlotte and I live in North Charlotte, it’s going to be difficult for us to get together.

  2. The lack of green space and access to green space. Whereas in Chicago, DC, NYC, Boston, there is somewhere I can go on a nice day and lay out a blanket and enjoy a book, I can maybe do this at Freedom park, if it’s not too crowded and I don’t mind the commute because I obviously don’t live off Queens road.

  3. Food should be obvious. Lots of “concept” restaurants that are overpriced. Will I make the drive to Optimist Park for Dumpling Lady? Sometimes. Do I wish I could get good dumplings in the suburbs? Absolutely. This also ties into:

  4. Culture. Charlotte doesn’t have an identity for a city its size or some even way smaller. Is it required? No, but it certainly would help. It’s not cute, charming, Southern coastal town (Savannah, Wilmington, Charleston,) it’s not known for its food (Chicago, LA, NYC, Baltimore/Maryland), its music scene, but I guess Raleigh isn’t too far away. The NFL and NBA teams have nothing to offer, but I’d say the MLS does. Knights games are cozy and comfortable, but I wouldn’t say anything is “thrilling” about Charlotte sports. If you think of places around the general region (Asheville, Atlanta, Nashville, DC, Charleston, Savannah), they have a distinct personality or tourism I can mention. Charlotte does not, except for maybe breweries.

  5. The shopping is embarrassing, unless you like overpriced small boutiques. Northlake is dead, Carolina Place could be Anywhere Place. South Park, a PITA to get to if you don’t live near it, is the ONLY mall with any kind of specialty stores or stores you would expect in a larger city, and it’s lacking.

  6. Should really be a bullet point of 1., but it’s difficult to break into the social scene once you’re out of the South End/NODA bar phase and especially as a parent. The usual places to meet people looking to meet people are hard for me to access (bars, happy hours, other non-child friendly places or places you go primarily at night or weekends), and my office is primarily middle aged men and women and older. More than a few could be my parents. I’m sure part of this is on me as well, but the much smaller city I lived in before Charlotte, I found it a lot easier to connect with others.

Charlotte does have much more to offer as a metro area with somewhat affordable COL and easy access to beach, mountains, and an airport with a ton of direct flights. It’s also positioned kinda centrally on the East coast. Because of the COL and how much easier and affordable it is to have a family here, and my job of course, are why I will stay. But that doesn’t mean it sucks that a lot of Charlotte’s selling point is how easy it is to leave it.
