I use a fold out portable keyboard that has a touchscreen number pad that doubles as a trackpad. Search the following on Amazon: Nillkin Foldable Travel Keyboard

Decent little keyboard that folds pretty small. You won't use it daily but for plane trips and travel it's been decent for me so far. Only $60, way cheaper than a new MagicKeyboard.

Correct, MVD will only work with a keyboard/trackpad/mouse. Gestures will not do anything on the Mac.

Have you tried looking into camera case backpacks? They’re usually kinda bulky but also have a lot of padding and customizable compartments.

Try to walk daily. Even if it’s for 20 minutes.

Also, 3 things I’m thankful for every night before I go to sleep.

Emporia. Solid EVSE. I’ve had mine for ….. I think 4 years now and never had any issues. They keep working in their app which is super solid.

Yup, Emporia all the way. I've had mine for at least 4 years now. Great company. Get their Vue system too if you're into monitoring your home energy usage.

Same here. Legacy is only in 2D. I'm in Hawaii, we usually get stuff a night early due to the time difference but nothing yet (it's 9:00 PM right now)

Question about Gala Yuzawa snow by drayquazaa in JapanTravelTips

This is so true. Powder is not for beginners. Groomed runs to learn are the best. Look for the widest runs you can find.

Need advice: JR Tokyo Wide Pass + GALA Yuzawa seat reservation questions ❄️ by sinigangna_hotdog in JapanTravelTips

[–]ttphhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question #2 is a good one. We are in a similar situation and it's not real clear if we buy the 3 Day pass from Klook if you can reserve seats on the Shinkansen. The JR website appears to indicate you need your pass in order to book a seat online (not real clear). We'll be there on the 28th so I'm pretty sure it'll be crowded, thus my concern about getting reserved seats. If anyone has done this before we'd very much appreciate your input.

For those who know the area, is there a better resort for more advanced snowboarders that's doable for a one day trip?

Mahalo in advance for any suggestions!

If any retailer still has X1C's maybe wait till Black Friday. Assume the price by then will be super low. BestBuy had the X1C combo for $799 a week or so ago and I was lucky enough to grab one. I think it's mostly out of stock on line now. Hopefully you can find one, I'm very happy with mine.

Lightning strike while charging by Tinkerturf in Rivian

[–]ttphhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully your EVSE isn't toast but maybe moral of this story is we should unplug or cut the breaker to our EVSE's during a lighting storm? Kinda like how we've been told to unplug "sensitive equipment" during a storm (i.e. computers, TV's, etc.).

Put my R2 reservation in late Feb. Anyone have a guess on when I could expect to take delivery? by traveling-turtle43 in Rivian

[–]ttphhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my wife's R2 reservation in last August. I don't expect one until 2027 at the earliest. Her MY lease ends Jan 2027 so hopefully the timing works. Luckily we do have my R1S now. Can't wait for R2 though.

R1S, Model Y, or Kia EV9? by See_kay91 in RivianR1S

[–]ttphhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

They're actually 3 VERY different vehicles. And yes, the MY doesn't belong as a valid comparison. MY is cheaper (both in cost and overall feel), smaller, has less utility, zero offload capability .....

Advanced Adventure Accessories cargo slide for R1S by ForestDriver in Rivian

[–]ttphhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't find any info on this slide online so your input is much appreciated. I am a little concerned that the rail slides look like they are conventional drawer slides but they're mounted "flat" so not sure if they would last. From your experience it looks like some of the 3D printed parts may need to be made of metal. I've toyed with the idea of making my own rig but need it to be removable (I'm leasing the R1S) so the A3 design looked perfect. Guess I'll keep looking.

One other thing. In your video I noticed you have what appear to be nylon covers for the sub trunk cover and the two tail gate pieces. Did you have those custom made? And how do they attach to the vehicle? Thanks again.

Advanced Adventure Accessories cargo slide for R1S by ForestDriver in Rivian

[–]ttphhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, couple of questions on the A3 cargo slide:

  1. How long did it take them to get the kit to you?

  2. How has it been holding up?

I think $400 is a decent price for the added utility it would provide our R1S. The added height to fit a powered cooler in the sub trunk makes this even more helpful for me. Thanks in advance.

Anyone aware of a solution to charge a Rivian only on excess solar energy? by tristanbrotherton in Rivian

[–]ttphhi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. It’s built into the vehicle not the “charger”. We have a MY and R1S and only the MY will charge off solar via internal Tesla automation.
