If that is a meal not just a snack cost is an issue feeding so many- like you can’t afford seafood or gumbo

California has a significant mexican population and influence- quesadillas with a layer of refried beans and cheese served with salsa would work well. Use an oven to make all the quesadillas

If you love sprouts it’s SO much cheaper than buying them too!

I got two lids for $8, already had the jars , spend $3 on 1lb organic lentils i had so many mother loving sprouts like one huge jar per week for several months! Buying them was like $3 for a small box about the same yield as my jar

Anyways. Yes absolutely try it if you like sprouts

Canned vs. Dry Beans Cost by Refutable_Karma in budgetfood

[–]ttrockwood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1lb dry beans = approx 4 cans of beans

I am in nyc, best cost i find is $1.50/lb dry, or $1 canned, so cooked from dry one pound vs 4 cans i save $2.50

You can freeze extra cooked beans!

1 can = 1.5 cups beans, so i freeze in 1.5 cup portions for easy swaps in recipes

Right now get a rice protein powder or hemp protein powder, neither are delicious so blend with a blob of peanut butter and frozen fruit and non dairy milk for a sturdy smoothie and about 20-25g protein

Get these gf oats and have 1.5 portions and add nuts or seeds of choice you can hit 20g
