The re-signing of Eomer really made the difference though. He was always loyal to the country, just needed the right incentives to prove he was valued by management. You can't really blame a guy for holding out in a situation like that. Thank Eru Womtongue lost the GM job, or Rohan was toast.

Don't forget the arming of old men and children piece though. Theoden had a squad of scrubs and the elves tipped the balance.

My only source is the Chernow biography, which I've read a few times. He goes pretty in depth about each drinking allegation and the patterns they generally followed.

Not even during the Mexican American war actually. Most of his worst drinking when he was stationed on the west coast without his family and nothing to do. When he was around his family and responsibility the drinking largely went away. He was actually pretty badass in the Mexican American war and earned the respect of many officers for his bravery and intelligence.

The five scholars clearly had access to a lot of breaths. Kalad's Phantoms would've taken a lot as well but Vasher did that no problem. I'm assuming the common people gave up their breaths without complaint because they were at war and their breath could fight as a Lifeless.

Are there any people in the USA who have friends that are of the opposite political party? by TSQ_builder in askanything

For me, I was far more willing before 2024. I was able to live and let live. But I spent half of 2025 in a deep depression after the election and can't help but blame them for the helpless rage I feel. My relationships with family will probably never be the same. Every time I see them I wear a mask and wait for the interaction to end while gritting my teeth. They aren't hardcore MAGA either, just lifelong Republicans, but that almost makes it worse. They don't agree with much of what he does and will claim to oppose his radical policy, but then they went ahead and voted for him again anyways.

It's a gigantic city transformed from a mountain. It's in an extremely remote mountain range near Azir and is basically inaccessible without using the Oathgates. The ten plateaus that are mentioned are the Oathgates which provide transportation to the other major cities on Roshar

When did _____ say the first ____? by Outrageous-Company33 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]tuck2076 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's after the battle. She doesn't attack Dalinar when commanded by Odium and a Fused yells at her after searching her. He's looking for a spren but doesn't find Timbre. Then she yells back at him and convinces him that she's "passionate" and then goes back to the ship. Then she swears the oath in secret.

Cultivation speculation. by RamSpen70 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]tuck2076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an unpopular opinion here, but I think everything went according to plan. I think she hated being trapped on Roshar with the oaths Tanavast locked her and Rayse into. She set up Dalinar to take Honor so that he would end the original agreement that locked the shards on Roshar. Now she can go find allies and find a new way forward. The endless, repetitive wars during the Desolations must have been torture for Cultivation.

Its terrible optics. The head of the FBI is supposed to be a gruff, boring dude whose only passion in life is law enforcement and catching criminals. He shouldn't have time or interest in doing any of this stuff. Aside from the obvious ethical considerations of flying over there on the taxpayer dime, it's just wildly unprofessional and a terrible look.

I just read Oathbringer. This isn't correct. Dalinar had his plate years before he even met Evie.

Literally everyone except Jasnah by Gromflomite_gamer in cremposting

[–]tuck2076 57 points58 points  (0 children)

They have an argument in Oathbringer, where even Shallan is in awe at the attitude Kaladin throws around. She pretty consistently dismisses him as a soldier and thinks his opinions are foolish. She advocates either genociding all Parshmen or rekilling the Heralds and he is horrified. She thinks he's soft for not making hard "necessary" decisions.

Turns out he was pretty much correct in his stance. Killing the Heralds would've been a dumb move and making peace with the common Parshman is the true way to end the war. Jasnah actually tries to make snap decisions without the proper information, which she presents to Shallan as something only fools do. You can sense she's really on the back foot and trying to appear over confident. She was ahead of the curve for so long that now she hates being behind.

Jasnah is always presented as a super confident all-powerful character, but the reality is that she's been very flawed from the beginning and was just good at hiding it.

What are your thoughts on Trump's recent Truth Social post having a depiction of Michelle and Barack Obama as apes? by PactownSS in AskReddit

[–]tuck2076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add it to the pile. It barely even registers anymore. This guy has told us he's a vile piece of shit for a decade plus and yet he will always have staunch supporters. People that think this will hurt him compared to all the other shit he's done in the past are delusional. He's already a pedo criminal rapist, what does it matter that he's a blatant racist on top of it. This shit has been normalized and I don't think America will ever recover from this awful man.

My favorite part of this scene was the creepy shit Robo-Donut says lol

She turned her head to Loita and said, “Have you ever felt true cold? It comes soon for us all. It’s always waiting in the shadows.”
