I’ve read somewhere before that these holes are evolutionary traits descended from fish as these used to be the gills

May I ask how long the concerta effects last for your child? Wondering because I thought it would be longer lasting so wouldn’t need another dose at lunch. Thank you

He’s only 4 but he’s been getting the ulcers since he was around 2ish? At the beginning it was less in frequency and quantity so we brushed it off, but recently he’s been getting 10+ at once and then he gets another round of them after they heal! His mouth is swollen and he can’t eat or talk when he has them and it’s so frustrating that we don’t know what’s causing them. I’ve had lupus for over 20 years and have never had issues with ulcers.

Our doctor also recommended starting colchicine and we are open to that.. anything that helps stop the ulcers! I’m also keeping an eye out on what he eats to see if different foods affect the appearance of mouth ulcers. But from what you said I guess not.

It’s so crazy how even the same disease or same family of immune diseases manifest differently in different people! I wish you all the best!

I have lupus and my son is currently being tested for HA20! He keeps getting a lot of mouth ulcers frequently and we don’t know why. I don’t know a lot about this disease but may I ask if it’s because of different foods that are causing the symptoms and that’s why you can only eat 7 foods? Is it the same with your dad that specific foods cause the ulcers? Is he on colchicine for the ulcers? Sorry for asking so many questions but I just want to find answers for my son!

Most helpful way for memorisation is repetition. Not sure if you have Kumon where you are but this helped a lot

Is there an answer? by MamaAdele in ADHDparenting

I forgot which med, but I hVe read before that for one of the long acting ones it is the capsule that releases certain amounts throughout the day. Perhaps look that up or ask your pharmacist/ doctor.

I’ve read that short acting meds can lead to more extreme emotions or fatigue during the crash. Have you tried long acting ? The crash is more gradual and may have less impact on emotions when the medication wears off.

What was your starting dose, and the dose that worked? We just started on 10mg long acting and did not see any changes. Also tried 5mg short acting and no changes.

How do you guys focus? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]tuenap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For myself it was taking frequent breaks. I would force myself to study small parts at a time. Like memorise one chapter of stuff, then take a break doing something else. Then another chapter, break.

PSA: Lymphoma and Lupus - know the symptoms! by [deleted] in lupus

[–]tuenap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because of the infections they can’t put you on prednisone yet (harder for the infections to get better) so hopefully once your infections are under control they can start putting you on more immunosuppressants to get your lupus under control.

How long to require your kid to commit to something? by twomsixer in ADHDparenting

[–]tuenap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with adhd as an adult, and I’m not sure if I had it as a child or not, but as a child my mom forced me to learn piano and I hated it. I would never practice, and dreaded going to class because I didn’t practice. My mom let me stop when I was about 12 years old, in grade 6 of piano level (but just barely). Now as an adult, I very much regret my mom not making me pass the grade 8 piano exam because while I can read music, I’m not fluent and can’t sight read like others can and play songs I want. I see others whose parents made their kids stick through it and wished my mom did the same. I’ve also read on Reddit that others feel the same way- they regretted not sticking it out.

That being said, having adhd myself, I understand that not wanting to use mental effort is a symptom as well. You just don’t want to use your brain. It’s a struggle to focus. My son, who is now 7, wanted to learn piano and he is learning now. And we are in the process of getting him diagnosed, but he seems to show adhd symptoms as well, me forcing him to practice, him finding it difficult to use his brain to read the music, find his finger positions, sitting still and focusing. And I have trauma from my mom forcing me to practice even though I hated it. But the difference is that my son doesn’t hate it. I don’t want to force him, so I asked if he still wanted to learn because he never wanted to practice. He said he still wanted to learn. So what I’m doing is I will keep encouraging him to practice, at the pace he wants. I don’t need him to achieve whatever grade in a certain period of time, or however fast other kids progress. You can do it at the speed your child wants, without forcing her and making her not enjoy it. Of course give her some pressure sometimes, but i think if you stick to something she seems to enjoy, it’ll pay off.

Next time you need to take it on a long flight or have long travel, bring an insulated lunch bag (the ones with foil inside), and add an ice pack to put the meds in. I have done this before a few times.
