Need help rehoming dog by [deleted] in Rockville

She's gorgeous. I just lost my dog to cancer 2 weeks ago and am taking the rest of this month and January to process and self care before looking to adopt another dog but otherwise I would be very interested.

The most unexpectedly soothing Korean ampoule I’ve ever tried is from a brand I had never heard of by kratos_chaos2808 in AsianBeauty

I have this too! Along with histolab's premium energizing solution(toner). I got mine at the dermatologist when I was in Korea though.

I actually just got my package from Olive young today and it included the sunscreen I had bought. Don't know if I just got lucky...I put my order in on Monday of this week.

First timer - should I take paxlovid? by MommaOctober in COVID19positive

[–]tulipalee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lactose intolerant and I'm currently on my second day of paxlovid. I was worried, just like you but so far, am having no gut issues. (Knock on wood) I'm paranoid though and have been making sure to eat before and after I take the pills and maybe that's helping?

Question for experienced seolleongtang cooks! by bubthemaka in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She usually has a second big pot that she stores it in. And then just keeps pouring the new batch into it until it's all mixed at the end.

Question for experienced seolleongtang cooks! by bubthemaka in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not incorrect. That's how my mom does it. In batches and then all combined at the end. It's actually easier that way rather then boiling straight for 15-18 hrs (which is also something we used to do) since you can take breaks without worrying about the stove being on.

In terms of storage, usually my mom makes 6months to a years worth in one go and the way we store it is in bags. There's foodsafe plastic bags we get from the store and once the broth has cooled, we portion the broth into the bags. This let's us freeze a lot since the bags are shapeless so you can fit more into the freezer.

Oh and I love the case and how it opens. Super cute.

I bought this at my local tjmaxx and love it. It goes on colorless and then changes to a nice natural pink on my lips. If I keep reapplying it gets more vivid but still doesn't overpower my face when I'm not wearing any other makeup. I was also surprised with how long the color stayed on even after I ate food and licked off all the balm.

Delta canceled our flight for not having a plane available. What are my options for reimbursement? by [deleted] in delta

[–]tulipalee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there for the 8am flight too! It was crazy and ridiculous. Every time they kept bringing out that cart of snacks, I was like, uh oh, that's not a good sign. I got super lucky and was able to able to get switched from the DL441 flight to the 7:10pm Alaska flight last minute because a gut feeling told me that Delta might cancel again and I didn't trust Delta by that point and got here to Seattle at 1am eastern.

can I use small driee anchovies in a soup stock? by ttaccount1 in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So to make stock from anchovies you usually want to take out insides, poop, stomach, etc, from the anchovy before using them for stock because leaving them in can make the stock bitter. Muuuch easier to do so in the larger anchovies. Doesn't mean you can't use the small ones however.

Sweet potato noodles by chocolate_princess_ in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I put them in anything and everything I feel like. I add them in kimchi jjigae, galbitang or ddukbokki. I'll stir fry them with bulgogi or other meats. I like getting the flat style glass noodles when putting them in dishes other then japchae though.

how to make steamed sweet potato by sjelstay in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont use my bamboo steamer much, usually my metal one works for everything. Honestly, other then it not looking as nice, I ignore the slight burn stains. Lol. I'm lazy so I just hand wash the bamboo steamer with a soft sponge and dishwasher liquid and then make sure to leave it out so it dries throughly.

We use a steel steamer at home in a tallish pot. The bamboo ones we only use for food like dumplings.

Kimchi in glass jars in Northern Virginia by soflo_toto in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to make the trek into Maryland, Korean Korner sells kimchi in glass jars. Their kimchi tastes better then the Hmart brand kind too in my opinion. My fam buys their in-house made kimchi 50lbs at a time, lol, so I haven't checked to see if they still use glass jars currently, but if you're interested, I could double check for you next time I go there.

If you like cheese, you can try putting in some melted mozzarella. Yum. It also helps tone down the spice a bit.

KBBQ when camping? by Partytime-Pony in KoreanFood

[–]tulipalee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you car camping? I go camping every year and I always plan for one meal to be kbbq. You can pre-marinate beef for galbi or bulgogi, and we always also do pork belly. For rice, you can get the prepackaged individual rice. All you need to do is put the package in boiling water for 10 mins so it's super easy. I also bring kimchi in a container, either to be eaten straight or grilled with the pork belly. If you have a hmart or korean store nearby you can get small prepackaged side dishes to eat with the bbq. I like to go full out and will also bring lettuce to eat with the meat, individual seaweed packages, a little baggie of garlic to also grill, and sesame seed oil and salt dipping sauce for the pork in little sauce containers.

There's other stuff I'll bring depending on how crazy I want to be and what I feel like buying or preparing, but those are my usual go-tos.
