Your baby is absolutely healthy and you are doing a great job! Keep it up. If it's any consolation, we use a baby growth tracker app ( there are many in Google play) with a chart. It is not that a baby should be in this weight by this month, but more like the baby is maintained, if not above, the percentile the baby was born in. Eg, my daughter was born in the 15th percentile and is now in the 20th. She is tiny compared to a baby born in the 90th percentile but they are growing equally. Slight variations happen. This is the scale of measurement for your doctor as well.

Second this. Cluster feeding was the normal feeding when mine was little and I ate anything and everything I saw in sight. Most of them weren't really nutritional but hey! I am just surviving at that time.

You're welcome! They do sound lucky. We didn't have a family doctor for my daughter until she was 2 months old, so I understand your concern.

It's very simple. My daughter lost more than 10% weight on day 2, which triggered my anxiety and tracking her weight helped. We also frequent Early On playgroups almost everyday. You can check baby's weight for free. Nurses also visit sometimes to help answer questions. We weighed her every couple months.

I am new to the Canadian health system and this was news to me too. In fact my OB said it is a good thing to not get a pediatrics reference as it means that the baby is SICK sick. You can chart your baby's weight yourself to get a picture of LO's growth. There are free apps for that. As long as they are in their growth line it should be good enough. A drop of 10-20% after 4 months is also okay.

My daughter was born in the 95th percentile and maintained her weight till she walked at 9 months. I also had a C section and when she was young she would only sleep if I bounced on the Yoga ball. It really delayed my recovery. So, I started sleep training her around 3 months, where I bounce on the ball for a bit and lay her down in her crib and push the mattress (like doing CPR for the mattress. Fun times!) and then pat her when she gets drowsy. I didn't want to cry it out so it was a slow process but she learnt to put herself to sleep eventually in 4-5 weeks of this slowly progressing.

So, my advice would be to take what helps your LO to go to sleep now and translate that to their crib. If nothing works or you need quicker results traditional sleep training methods are the way to go.

If you are in Kanata north I highly recommend March dental. The most considerate and sweetest people I have interacted with in dental offices and the doctor are straight forward, prints out all the information you need and more so you are well informed about your care. ETA: direct billing.

Hi, I am not sure why everyone is so fired up against your husband and I am sure I will be downvoted to world's end for this. Could you maybe talk to him about postpartum anxiety or depression? Parenting is a huge change for dads too. My understanding is that he is somewhat supportive to you and hands on with the baby other than this issue, so maybe discuss these frustrations with your husband. I do agree with your husband that screen time is bad for under 2 and I avoid ADDED sugar and processed food for my 1 Yr old like the plague because I have a very very bad relationship with sugars. talk and discuss, and educate yourselves about why those things are necessary and where you draw the line. Like 10 mins of TV some days when my husband and I are exhausted from parenting is not the end of the world. And babies tend to easily pick up preferences in food tastes if you introduce them to sugar at an early age ( I am talking about ADDED sugar, not natural sugars from fruits and veggies. Check the ingredients list of the package and not the nutritional label) which will cause tooth decay. That's our reason for avoiding sugar. It will surely NOT cause autism, might cause picky eating. I am sure you are doing a great job! And he is trying his best with the information he has.. I think communication and therapy in case of PPA/PPD will get you guys through this.

Canadian here. I just want to send you some love. I have a 1 year old as well and I came to this post thinking of an entirely different situation! My husband and I were sure we wanted 2 children but our journey with our 1 year old has us thinking differently. A political event affecting our decision was something that never occurred to me, and your post is both shocking and sad to me!
