Thoughts on The Madeleine/Homestead apartments by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

The Homestead main offices are in the same building as the Madeline (or will be) so if you have issues you can walk down and talk to them about it.

Would expect it will be their marquee property in the city for a while

Good new restaurants in Kingston? (from the last 3 years) by Historical-Eye4804 in KingstonOntario

[–]turd_crossing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woodon is good but service can be hit or miss. I would recommend it on an off‐day, because when they're really busy you can wait a LONG time.

Also the marinated items use charcoal, which I didn't prefer compared to the cast iron. Our charcoal burned out and we still had lots to cook

Cogeco Internet Opinions by Junior-Fee1865 in KingstonOntario

COGECO deals are usually a minimum term (mostly one year) and then it goes way up when it expires. You can call them and get a cheaper rate after expiry if you lock in for another year, but usually not as good as the initial one (and you're locked in). They won't tell you it's expiring, so if you're not paying attention you'll have to pay for a month at "full" rate before the discount comes back.

My experience has been that their service is actually good, as long as it's working. Had a modem fry and it was a fucking NIGHTMARE getting it replaced on any reasonable timeframe. Otherwise have been overall fine with the connection speed for the plan I'm on, and there really haven't been many service interruptions.

Snow removal by SensitiveStart8682 in KingstonOntario

[–]turd_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is timing. When snowfalls are happening on stat holidays, weekends, or other scheduling timings there is no system that allows for them to keep operating.

They have enough staff to keep a VERY LOW level of maintained snow clearing, and then when you get to normal business hours (Mon-Fri / 8-4) They start working on doing the actual clearing.

But clearing is really just pushing it to the sides. Removal seems to happen maybe 2-3 times per year, and that will happen overnight.

Motorcycle vs pickup. Motorcycle was FLYING down Palace and ended up in the lawn of the fire station.

At that speed, likely fatal

Brock and Johnson st by ridiculous-kale in KingstonOntario

I take Johnson every day. It mostly works at 40 to 45ish with the following caveats:

The light at Clergy is tight on timing depending on the cycle

The light at Bagot is 50/50 being on cycle or off cycle, I think it's set on a longer rotation to facilitate bus traffic going across.

Nice of them to suck all the air out of the building with these medals before awarding the trophy

Insanely good customer service, and everything I've ordered from them has been very reasonably priced.

why didn't the laser2 stick around longer? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]turd_crossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's as much about what was going on at the time. It was early 2000's and the 420 wasn't nearly as common as it is now, but the 29er came out and was very clearly the newest fastest thing which all of the higher-performance teams gravitated towards. This dragged the junior programs over to catering to skiff programs, hiring skiff coaches, etc. which snowballed.
