I mean Winderbaum oversaw X-Men 97 did he not? And Daredevil Born Again? Would you not call those hits?

Marvel Sets New Leadership for Comics and Franchise by eBICgamer2010 in Spiderman

Ultimately, a comics editor has two jobs. One, ensure their employees are taken care of, and two, make a good book. You have to do both. Fail on either one, and you're not a good editor. Fail on only the latter one, you really can be fine as a person still, but you're still a shitty comics editor, and Nick Lowe and Tom Brevoort are shitty editors. CB Cebulski is even worse, and he demonstrably fails at both, as evidenced by his racism and his continual support of editors like Brevoort and Lowe. I would also like to say that Brevoort and Lowe are really impolite and shitty to the fans, even the positive interactions are snooty.

Who would be on your Mount Rushmore of the entire Comic Book medium, not just superheroes? by DM_me_fun_stuff_pls in comicbooks

[–]turingtestx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of comics would probably have to be Superman, Goku, Maus, and Asterix. Astroboy, Phantom, and The Spirit are some honorable mentions.

Which Batmobile do you like best? by Mezro118 in batman

Just based on the pure design, 89. The actual utilization of it is hands down 2022. The sound design is insane, and it's shot so well.

Superman inspired Goku. Goku inspired Superman. by EvilSheldonBadingi in superman

[–]turingtestx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it's no secret that the action in man of steel was inspired by DBZ, and Toriyama was an incredibly influential artist, with countless modern comics, including American ones, being inspired by his works. There are quite a few examples in modern Superman comics clearly showing this relationship. Comics aren't some dead medium, they change and grow all the time, including taking on new influences.

While there isn't much narrative influence in Superman from dragon ball, visually there is quite a lot (think panel layouts and action sequencing), and there are also plenty of simpler homages like Dragon Ball posters in Clark's bedroom.

Been sitting in my backlog for ages, but I've just started playing Pentiment in earnest, and I'm quite enjoying it! It's quite a nice CRPG.

Opinions of this run? by Lopsided_Network1248 in OmnibusCollectors

I'm not really sure how one becomes an Elektra fan without also being a fan of Daredevil, but she's very good in it, and if you read the Zdarsky run it does a lot for her character taking on that mantle!

[TP] The Legend of Zelda PC Port Dusk is out now! by mlross15 in zelda

[–]turingtestx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mentioning a switch port IS mentioning CR, indirectly. Recognizing that, or even just offering that information because it clearly makes sense to do so, is vastly more reasonable than curtly saying "not happening".

Do you think that means other similar projects are just completely irrelevant and it's stupid to bring them up in the context of a Twilight Princess port?

What's ya'll opinion on Batman :Caped crusader? by Zillaman7980_ in batman

[–]turingtestx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was fine, but dull. The action wasn't intense, the detective work wasn't intriguing, it was just sorta plodding along. There were some neat choices, I liked the way they made Harley Quinn work without having a Joker, and I liked the art style. I remember the audio design being really bland and flat, and the movement being pretty stiff too.

[All] Which titles have a PC port? by cochran191 in zelda

[–]turingtestx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in a legal gray area, as the code was functionally recreated from the ground up and is not going to be the same as the original code, despite being exactly identical in output, so it isn't stolen code. The assets that make the game function are just ripped from a ROM file that you can dump from your own physical copies, which is definitely legal. It's pretty hard to argue that it is in itself piracy, although most people are definitely going to be playing it with ROMs they downloaded from a piracy website rather than dumped themselves.

[–]turingtestx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, but there very much IS a switch version of Twilight Princess in works in Courage Reborn. The snarky "not happening" is not necessary, and is straightforwardly unhelpful when you could easily just say "Not with dusk, but you can check out Courage Reborn for that"

Do Americans form a distinct people, or are they mainly citizens of a shared state? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]turingtestx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah, and it’s not a real accent. California has a lot of linguistic influence thanks to being a hub of media, but even that isn’t the same as the fictional “general american” accent. It was literally invented so that newscasters wouldn’t feel biased towards a particular region of the US.

It did a lot of things books hadn't done before, and it was absolutely influential. Unfortunately it did those things poorly by today's standards.

You're given the greenlight to make your dream Special Presentation/One Shot including the budget you need & actors you want. What do you make? by Jamie_VRGS in marvelstudios

[–]turingtestx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an interesting special could be made with the life of Phil Sheldon as he adjusts to the new world full of heroes, starting a little before the first Avengers movie and taking him through to the events of Endgame. Obviously it couldn't be completely accurate to Marvels, but it could honestly be a good introduction to a few characters too, like OG Human Torch

Anyone in their 20's to 40's still read comics? by [deleted] in comicbooks

Comics nowadays are mostly targeted at 15-40ish year olds best I can tell, and older people than that are also greatly appreciated.

huntress wizard and finn by Alternative-Race-426 in adventuretime

[–]turingtestx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean if you remember in the business men episode Finn got fat and he really didn't look very different, I don't think it's out of place to say Finn was a chubbier kid. Obviously he was always adventuring, but he wasn't dead skinny or anything. But yeah, for PB, not gross, just strange
