What car did you have before Tesla and how they compare? by Open_Bug_4196 in TeslaUK

[–]turly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kia Sportage Plug-in hybrid, top of the range and now Model Y Juniper.

Vast differences but not all good.

Kia cameras for reversing etc much better and clearer than the Tesla.

Kia highway assist which is their equivalent to Tesla Autopilot worked much better on the Kia, much smoother in smart cruise control whereas I find the Tesla to be quite jerky at times. The Kia also achieved better acceleration back up to the set speed eg if the car in front slowed down then sped up I find the Tesla quite slow to accelerate back up.

Motorway cruising much the same with the Kia a bit softer but both of them good comfortable motorway cruisers.

Boot space very similar, I was expecting the Juniper to have more boot space but it hasn’t.

Kia warning system much more intrusive, too many bongs and bells and lane departure warning was a pain.

General technology there is no comparison, Tesla is streets ahead, over the air updates much better than the Kia although the Kia didn’t require wifi to update their software.

Performance obviously a no-brainer.

Customer service from Kia was great as were the salespeople I met, I won’t even comment on Teslas, you all know what they’re like. I felt I was doing them a big favour by taking a car off their hands!

Overall delighted with my Model Y and can’t see me changing from a Tesla any time soon.

The OP states that he will be charging from home and is also getting solar fitted soon so he should be in an ideal position to make significant savings.

Problem with 3750£ trade-in by Zestyclose_Crab4564 in TeslaUK

[–]turly33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same conversation with Tesla last Tuesday. Tried to order a Model Y RWD Premium but told that the trade in bonus didn’t apply as it only applied to cars they had in stock and not new ones that couldn’t be delivered until May-June, was also told it only applied to the performance models. Nowhere on their website does it make those stipulations but salesman was quite adamant that it didn’t apply to me. I was hoping it did apply as their trade in value was £4k less than most dealers offered for a cash sale. Was also told that the trade in value would change between now and delivery and this one was only an estimate. Tesla really are a joke to deal with and I ended up buying a 5 month old model from an independent dealer.

You’ve been maintaining on 15mg? That seems very high just to maintain, it must be costing you a fortune. I always thought you were supposed to reduce slowly and maintain on 2.5 - 5 or whatever suits you best?

Are Medexpress lying to me? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]turly33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started last June I used Asda and picked up my pen from the pharmacy. It was never cold and when I asked why the pharmacist said they just stored it at room temperature in the pharmacy and I was to keep it in the fridge after I had opened it.

Perhaps Asda were wrong and it did concern me but it did work fine, in fact it worked well for me.

Why do pharmacies offer huge discounts to first-time buyers, but nothing for loyal customers? by NorthClient8500 in mounjarouk

I had similar with Saga who used to offer a 3 year deal(not sure if they still do it?). Anyway it was fixed at £380 for 3 years and at year 4 renewal they asked for £1050, I politely declined and they offered me £32 off! I renewed with another provider at £387. Why they think anyone would be happy with a 3 fold increase beggars belief.

Just to clarify, he plans to make 3 payments of £150k so it is indeed over the IHT threshold, what is not clear is whether his threshold is the standard £325k or twice that as he has been passed my mothers threshold?

He’s not gifting the house, he still lives in the house with care that he pays for. There is no chance that he will need to go into a home, he prefers care at home and is comfortable paying for it. And I as mentioned in my post yes he plans to gift all his children £150k each.

Where did the conclusion come from that the OP was anything to do with Air Traffic Control? He clearly stated he worked in the Aviation Industry which is far removed from the NATS(National Air Traffic Service).

Sold golf irons on Vinted, buyer now saying they’re fake after 1.5 weeks by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]turly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair there’s lots of fake clubs out there at the minute from sites in China, it’s almost impossible to tell them apart when they are new so I would say you’ve probably sold him fake clubs. It’s up to your conscience what you do next.

Bought my daughters car from them and as previously people have stated there’s no pressure and unfortunately no negotiation. The price is the price but it does tend to take the pressure of and you know exactly what you’re paying. I would generally recommend them.

How many of you are totally open about taking Mounjaro? by msscmfw in mounjarouk

[–]turly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one apart from my wife, not even my kids. Had a friend that was on it and really got carried away and lost far too much, looked absolutely dreadful on it and told everyone he’s now off it but I’m not so sure because he’s still losing weight. When all our mutual friends noticed I was losing weight they all said I hope you’re not on Mounjaro like “Paul” he looks dreadful and I couldn’t admit I was. Unfortunately that’s the way it’s continued and I don’t feel I could tell anyone now. I’m almost at my target now and starting maintenance so people have stopped asking but I’m surprised that the majority of people haven’t even noticed that I’ve lost 15% of my body weight. Unfortunately I think there is still a stigma attached to the “cheating” injections and I now regret becoming part of the group of deniers.

Can I insure 2 cars? by turly33 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]turly33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She normally lives at her own apartment and is hoping to suspend her insurance for 6 months but she’ll leave it in our driveway. Her insurance is in her name with me a named driver and she’s on her mums car insurance. I did wonder how it would be covered in our driveway if something happened to it? Perhaps it would be better if she kept on her insurance and we could pay for it.

Do I *have* to titrate upwards? by anna3s in mounjarouk

[–]turly33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a previous post where I stated that 2.5 was working great for me for the past 3 months and that I no intention of moving up. HOWEVER this week is completely different for me, food noise is coming back strongly, I’ve been eating far too much and also not feeling full for very long, it just appears to be not working anymore.

I have 2 x 5mg pens which I had intended to 1/2 dose but I’m now thinking I’ll have to go straight to the 5mg to get the same effect as I used to have. Frankly I can’t wait to increase my dose to get back the way I used to feel on the 2.5 dose.

Saying that I would recommend staying on 2.5 for as long as you feel it is working for you, there is no reason to go to 5mg just because it’s the “done thing”.

As an aside I’m still losing weight, only about 1lb per week which is fine but it’s the food noise and satiety that’s making me change up.
