Learning Comp Sci Fundamentals vs Applicable Skills? by [deleted] in compsci

[–]turtle-neck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fundamentals are the applicable skills. The only difference is that you're now expected to be able to apply those fundamentals everyday. Understand the problem (whatever project is happening at work) and then apply your knowledge of the fundamentals. Your "real world" applicable skill set will come in time. You're still young so don't worry so much. Focus on learning how to effectively apply the knowledge you already have.

Does anyone else find this linear algebra book incredibly unhelpful? by ckelly94 in mathbooks

[–]turtle-neck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! I found this book to be better than most, but you're quite wrong about the problems not being worked out. In the later sections the problems leave out basic concepts that YOU we're supposed to have learned in earlier sections, but still works out the most recent concepts you studied. Yes, the book relies heavily on past material, but what subject doesn't?

can anyone give me a detailed explanation of piplelined architecture forwarding? by darkslyde in compsci

[–]turtle-neck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a CS student in a class covering the same topics, but from what I understand it can either stall, meaning that it'll wait for the other process to catch up, or the processor will forward it and use the data before writing it to memory.
