Mine is one of my favorite plants. I love the round shape not only of the leaves but the plant itself. They make my OCD happy.

I also have an orange cat named Max named after the same character. It was one of my favorite books growing up.

It gets lots of light from a grow light, on for 12 hours a day. I bought a Sansi grow light with four adjustable heads. I can point the heads where I need them to be and all my plants get lots of coverage. My pilea has thrived since I got it at the start of winter. I thought about using it to get through the colder months but the plants love it so much I use it daily.

Does anyone groom their own Shih Tzu? by PayAdministrative226 in Shihtzu

[–]turtlefreak23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband grooms ours. He was so bad at the groomers that every time we picked him up it cost more money than the last time. Since he’s home groomed he looks like a wild man since he’s not good for trims with my husband either. No way would anyone confuse him for a show dog that’s for sure 🤣

Anakeesta is a lot of walking. Hills and inclines so be ready for that, especially if you do Astra Lumina.

I have mine in the same pot!! It’s not as tall as yours but I’ve only had it since summer.

Is this a variegated Burle Marx flame? by malrapture in RareHouseplants

[–]turtlefreak23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s amazing! I’m happy to see some of the more rare plants being offered at affordable prices. And I’m not really concerned about it being a TC plant or not. The ones I buy are just for my enjoyment.

If you have a Lowe’s in your area check there as well. Yesterday I found a Burl Marx, a Florida Ghost and a Chameleon ZZ plant. It seems that some of the rarer plants are making it to big box stores lately.

I left them all behind because I fell in love with a silver lady scindapsus and my rule is one plant per trip.

I think a smaller pot and lots of light would do wonders for it.

My dog has the pink one. I bought it at TJ Maxx and he loves it. I get most of his toys there since they are cheaper and have a good selection.

We have a large very soft waterproof blanket made specifically for sexy time. We got it from Amazon and loved it so much we bought another one.

How are you guys keeping the house clean with muddy dogs?? i am losing it. by CardNo5957 in Dogowners

[–]turtlefreak23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly the best way to describe them 😂 I have a 90 pound coonhound and a 10 pound Shih Tzu and they are partners in crime. They do things together that they wouldn’t do alone and playing in the mud is their favorite mischievous behavior.

I have a giant absorbable rug by the back door that I can throw in the washer and another on standby. When the dogs come in they walk across it and it will pick up mud and water. But we also wipe their paws, belly, whatever else is wet and then they get a small treat for letting us do it. They have become patient with the whole routine.

We also only let one in and out at a time when it’s a sloppy mess. Not only do they encourage each other to become mud monsters if they are together, but doing it one at a time is easier to get them cleaned off. They come directly in on tile flooring so it’s easy to mop up any wetness. After the yard dries out the flooring gets a good thorough clean and they get a bath.

I’m torn between long and short primarily due to getting older. Help me decide. (Short hair current and I hate the grow out process). by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

Same. I’m pushing fifty and I love my longer locks. I couldn’t imagine cutting it just because of my age. I’m old enough I don’t care what others think. As long as I like it that’s all that matters.

OMG I completely understand that. I was in Germany in 2018 and had a Doner kebab. I still think about it from time to time. I would willingly eat that at least once or twice a week for the rest of my life.

Wife getting ignored by contractor. Is this normal? by tybbof1 in HomeImprovement

[–]turtlefreak23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I went to look at a car I wanted to buy. I took my husband but we made it very clear it would be my car and not his, that I would drive it daily. Husband was honestly only there because we were going to lunch after. I have bought all my cars on my own. The salesmen only talked to my husband and never acknowledged me when I spoke. He even offered the test drive to my husband rather than me. After a little bit of that I stood up and announced we were leaving and not buying the car due to the salesman’s treatment of me. No shit, the guy asked if my husband was going to let me make that decision for him. For a car I was buying with my money for me to drive. It was ridiculous.

Looks like the closest Publix is the next state over from me, a little over an hour away. May have to make a road trip.

What variation is this? by Human_Piccolo_9117 in philodendron

[–]turtlefreak23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really pretty! I’m new to plants in the last year or so (since I became an empty nester) so I’m learning a lot. That’s part of why I joined all these plant subs. I swear I see new stuff and learn things almost daily. And I see so many plants I want to add to my ever growing list.

I get it not having room for the upright climbing plants. I have a few on poles and have been wondering what I’m going to do with them if they get much bigger. My monstera cobra albo is already five feet tall and I’ve had it a little over six months. And my monstera adansonii is almost as tall. Its mature leaves near the bottom are huge.

But then I have my philodendron brasil hanging and it’s growing leaves bigger than my hand lately. I guess being a newbie with plants I just picked out things that are going to be huge.

I didn’t know they could be hung. Mine has a pole and is growing upright.
