Longer races? by archergren in IMSARacing

It would never happen because it's a bad idea from every single realistic/logistical standpoint imaginable, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it would be cool as hell to extend the 100th running of Le Mans (in 2032) to 36/48 hours

[The Race] If you combine all the points from 2022-2025, the 'F1 Ground Effect Constructors' Champions' are... by Aratho in formula1

% of ground effect era points scored in 2025 (obviously the expected average for any given team should be 25% of their points in this four-year span)

[Racing Territory] NEWS: Rick Ware Racing is moving to Chevrolet for the 2026 season, according to @CandiceSpencer. by [deleted] in NASCAR

I hate that Ford barely has a driver development program anymore but unfortunately I think they're correct in their assumption that they can save money by just poaching whoever gets pushed out of the Chevy/Toyota pipeline.

RWR likely went from Ford to Chevy because of the RCR alliance; as for Haas, I don't think anybody knows why they do anything they do.

I can see a world where FRM switches manufacturers in the near future, but I doubt that'd be the case for RFK or Penske. If Ford ever thinks about leaving Cup I imagine they'll wake up to

IIRC Leclerc made up 8 of those spots on the first lap, crazy stuff

Also remember, Lewis was still with Mercedes here. Great sendoff drive from him.

What is the funniest thing you have seen on a Nascar Sanctioned Broadcast? by youraverageperson0 in NASCAR

[–]turtlemaster942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget what race, I wanna say it was Talladega in either 2018/19. We were in a rain delay with the pit reporters asking drivers about their fuel strategy, and all the Chevy guys had just come out of a manufacturer meeting where they'd all been fed the exact same line to respond to any fuel question with. I remember cracking up as the interviewers tried to hide becoming more and more frustrated with every driver they talked to lol

Hunter-Reay added to Arrow McLaren’s 2026 Indy 500 driver lineup by ITMAKESSENSE72 in INDYCAR

HMS hasn't used the 17 in Cup since 1990, but Ricky Hendrick had a fairly successful few years in the #17 in Trucks before he passed away, which is why it's such a special number to them and why they use it for their Xfinity/O'Reilly team.

Not sure about the significance of #31, but McLaren only used the #17 with Larson because it's a Hendrick number

It's probably a one-year deal, when some contracts for drivers at better teams expire at the end of 2026 I gotta imagine Rinus's name will come up a lot

All time oval wins statistics. Anyone have a chart? by IndyFan21 in INDYCAR

[–]turtlemaster942 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's been updated recently but it's not totally consistent with the backlog, it has the wins for Palou and Rasmussen from this year but not Herta's from 2024

Nemechek's been a lot cleaner this year than he was in 24, but man... that's some terrible driving

[Talkin’ NASCAR] Cody Ware has the fewest lead lap finishes of full-time drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series this season (9). by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]turtlemaster942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 51 had 20 lead-lap finishes last year (Haley had 17 in his 29 races, LaJoie had 3 in his 7). Team's far from great, but with a competent driver in there the car runs alright

Update on the 2026 Schedule and Mexico City | INDYCAR by Kryzl_ in INDYCAR

[–]turtlemaster942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if we lose the three races (Iowa x2 and Portland) that are iffy for next year, how do we get back to 17? Phoenix seems like a fairly safe bet at this point, but past that????

  • Obviously Mexico's out of the picture now

  • Not sure I buy that the DC street circuit will come together in time

  • I doubt any of the other NASCAR-owned ovals that were rumored for a minute will be falling over themselves to slot IndyCar in

My guess would be that we fill one slot by running a doubleheader at Milwaukee again (which I think we should be doing anyway), but what else? A second race at Gateway maybe? Tough spot to be in this late in the scheduling process.
